I purchased this lawnmower in 2012. In May of 2013, the lawnmower's engine was overheating. The engine would start. but it would not start back up after emptying the bag of grass. I brought this in for repair in May of 2013, and the same thing happened in May of 2014. Except in May of 2014, Sears couldn't repair it this time. This lawnmower is a headache. I will never buy a Briggs and Stratton engine again. Not worth the money.
Self-Propelled is a little too fast. Bagging wet grass best. Side discharge keeps falling off. Had to mow in the rain a few times grass was getting high.

I will be honest, I have never written a review before but this mower frustrates me so much I have to comment.I bought last years version of this mower and hate it. My first complaint is the wheel adjuster. At first it seemed like a great idea but the linkage hangs down lower than the mower deck so it hangs up on any offset like sidewalk to yard and snags my sprinkler heads even though they are below the level I mow my grass. The hand levers pinch my hands. It starts first pull every time ,which is a plus, but if you let it sit for fifteen minutes or so after hot it will not start till completely cooled down. The bag plugs up constantly because it is sloped up from the discharge. When releasing the self propel lever the mower will not release the wheels to pull mower backwards unless i push mower forwards first. Maybe the problems I have had on my model have been addressed. By the way, my last mower was a craftsman which I thrashed for ten years with no complaints, just some repairs and maintenance. I also have many sears tools which i love.
Chose the rear self-propelled because our yard has a slope. This makes it easier. Mower mulches well too. The variable speed is also useful because there are two different people in the household who mow.

I bought this lawn mower 3 months ago. It exhibited two problems. One is that the clutch slips and I have to push the lawn mower up grades. Second dust flies from the mower despite the words on the bag "dust blocker". I took the mower back to Sears for repairs. The mower has a 2 year warranty. Sears wanted $50. I'm not sure what the $50 was for, but I declined to pay it. I will now wait to see what the outcome of my problems with this mower.
While this mower offers a lot of options for the money it is an absolute piece of junk. The self propelled drive feature stopped working after approximately 3 months of use and the engine is absolute garbage. The automatic choke is also broken after approximately 10 months of use and is controlled by a cheap piece of plastic. Sears will not stand by this product, and essentially states that it's my fault that I did not buy the extended warranty, indicating that they expect, and it is normal, for the mower to break and have all of these issues and need repair. Bottom line is do not buy this product unless you want to have to purchase a second new mower within two years as I did.

I bought this mower two summers ago. I was in half a mind to return it, but somehow kept it, thinking it will be okay. Boy, how wrong I was!! I have several gripes about this product. One is the drive control cable snapped in the first season. It was under warranty, so Sears replaced it for free. It was a pain to put it in, but I did it anyway. So it broke again this season after using the mower for about 5 cuts. Now it costs over $32 bucks to replace it! There is no padding on the handles, there is no choke or primer, however, the mower starts within the first 3 pulls. It vibrates tremendously. There is no engine speed control. I have to turn off the mower if I have to hear to my wife of kids speak while I am mowing the lawn, instead of lowering the engine. Sometimes it does not start right away and needs to cool off and I am wasting time. Don't buy!!!
Needed a second mower for our rental house. Reviewed many... different styles and brands and decided to go with Craftsman. 1st Day- Immediately after assembly it rained for about 15 minutes on grass that was already too long. Decided to try bagging anyway. The mower started 1st pull out of the box. This was my first self propelled hand mower, but the controls were easy to use. Even in the poor weather conditions the mower cut cleanly, filled the bag completely and never clogged. I've used it twice since and am very happy with my choice.

I bought this mower bc it received high ratings on Consumer Reports and bc the 190cc and 7.25 torque. The engine seems fine but the mulching ability is the worse I have seen. The rear flap lets grass blow out and the machine cannot mulch the grass entirely, leaving clumps. When using the bagging, it is fine but mulching is better for the health of the lawn.
