I was dissatisfied with this lawn mower from the start. I knew within 10 minutes that I didn't like it, but for some reason I didn't pack it up and return it. It did a terrible job at mulching grass clippings. The clippings bunch up in the bag chute and fall onto the ground in clumps. Once the chute fills up, the mower will leave a clump of grass about every 15 feet. Most lawn mowers, even most Craftsmen mowers have a plug for the bag chute that prevents grass from bunching up. I was extremely frustrated with this thing for over 2 years. And then, like on queue, as soon as the 2-year warrantee expired the Briggs-Stratton engine started running poorly. I had it into the shop numerous times and the shop was working with Brigg-Stratton directly to remedy the problem, but Briggs couldn't figure it out. When it got to the point where it wouldn?t cut anymore and Briggs had nothing left to suggest I purchased a Toro.
This mower has a smaller bag than the Toro I have had for 17 years. Plus it won't fill if the grass is tall. Probably ok for mowing golf course greens. Or if you mow frequently. The grass bunches up at the front of the bag and won't fill the back almost ever. Also, the narrow front wheels with wider back wheel spacing makes mowing along fences difficult. The last problem with the mower is the rear drive wheels spin at almost every uneven spot in the yard, unless mowing at 4+ height settings. This is a terrible mower.
another reviewer titled review as Criticism....everything they write is true. the back wheels stick out and prevent close cut to walls. I have almost no areas like this, so it's not a problem for ME. on lowest setting, a control bar at the back IS close to the ground, but even mowing at #3 I haven't had a problem. BUT I LOVE IT..mine starts on First pull everytime so far (about 8 mowings in 2 months). It mows very even. Mows faster than my old mower...yes higher walk speed helps. Has excellent suction for mulching. Bag flap-hold feature is wonderful when changing. For me, the one-lever-adjusts-all-wheels is essential, since I mow different areas at different lengths, on each outing. I think it's a great mower.
Cannot lower the mower enough to cut the grass low for reseeding. By the time I am done mowing, I definitely have to shower before doing anything else. The catcher does not seal and throws grass out on all sides. If you have the slightest bit of dirt in your yard, you will look like you rolled down a dirt hill. I have a fog of dirt in my backyard before I am done because the bag is horrible. My grandson tried to help me mow the yard, but too much grass was getting in his eyes. I am past my return date, but this one will be junk and I will buy another mower.

We have had this mower for approximately 2 months, and it has already broken twice. We had only had it for a few weeks, so it had been used 3-4 times, when it would not start. We took it back to the store and they sent it out. It took a few weeks, but we finally got it back last week. My husband went to mow the grass a few days later, and the piece that holds the blade was broken, so we STILL couldn't mow the grass. Called Sears, and they informed us that the warranty is only for 30 days, so we will need to pay out of pocket to have this problem fixed. It is ridiculous that we have used this lawn mower maybe 4 times, and it has already broken twice. I will never buy another craftsman lawn mower again. Actually, I will probably not buy anything from craftsman, considering the quality of their products.
had used maybe 10 times when the self propelled quit working. Two weeks to get repaired. Came back and goes so slow that it takes forever now to mow. Will have to take it back in the get the repair repaired. Another two weeks without a mower.
Couldn't pass up this great deal. This mower replaced another craftsman mower that I had for 10 years and was still in great shape when I purchased this one. Has more power and cuts better and faster than my previous model. So glad I bought it.
