I don?t always steal lawn mowers but when I do it?s a Craftsman.
Well it?s March 3rd and my old reliable Craftsman lawn mower is still stolen. Some toolbox swiped it last fall. The grass is getting a bit shaggy. Another week or so and my neighbors will start talking. So off to Sears I go. I did my internet shopping due diligence and decided on the Craftsman 37037. My criteria: I wanted a mower built or at least assembled in the U S of A. I wanted a Briggs and Stratton engine because these were the ones I learned to take apart and rebuild in high school. I wanted torque and displacement, the more the better. I wanted big back wheels because they look cool. I wanted a push mower because men don?t buy self propelled mowers. The web site picture also sported a blue ?recommended? badge. Two extra points for that. Like most men, I don?t limit my mower to just grass. My old mower would take on anything. Sticks, blackberry vines, rocks, sprinkler heads, dog toys, beer cans, you name it. I hope this shiny new mower is half the mower my old one was.

Craftsman 190cc* High Wheel Rear Bag Push Mower 50 States

After research, this seemed to be the best fit for our needs.  Really impressed with the starting on the first pull.  The lighter weight was nice to handle in the yard, enjoyed the deck washout adaptor, etc.  Everything just seemed great--then one summer evening, about the 10-12 th time I tried to use the mower, it decided it would not start, not on one pull or 20,  So, we took it to the Sears repair shop, since we had also purchased additional warranty.  Surprised to learn that the folks in the repair shop said they had experienced a lot of this type problem "because the gas is bad, you have to use higher grade fuel, or add stabilizer to your gas".  Well, I had never heard of such in the 50 years I have used power mowers.  Left the mower to be repaired and after 2 weeks and many phone calls have now learned my "new" mower is ready to come back home--with a charge attached!!  I questioned ANY charge since the mower was about 6 weeks old and was told they had to replace the spark plug and filter "and that is not covered by any warranty".

I will retrieve this mower from the shop and will sell it this weekend at a garage sale--I have had my last Craftsman mower, which is a shame, this one is probably the 8-10th one I have owned with no problems EVER until now.  Disappointed in Briggs and Stratton and Sears.  My final stop is back to the salesman who sold it to me with all the promises about how great it was!!!

Disappointed in Texas.

CRAFTSMAN!!!!

My craftsman mower of 15 years gave up the ghost this year. So I figured to upgrade with a "big name" mower. I am glad that i returned to CRAFTSMAN and made this purchase. More power, more extras, and the one pull start is fantastic. I took it out of the box, attached the handle, set up the catcher, adjusted the wheels for cutting, added oil, filled up with gas and 1 pull started. Previous 2 mowers were craftsman, and now hope this one serves me well,

Finally! A decent mower at a fair price.

Easy set up. Easy starting. Powerful. Mows the lawn terrific. Looks great. I only wish it had a throttle but this mower is very fuel efficient so it's not incredibly important. On or off. Simple.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Job Sears!

Highly recommend this mower. Its light weight design makes it a breeze to push through the tough S. Florida Augustine grass, this light weight design was achieved by using more plastic parts than my old Craftsman, but I don?t mind it. It?s one pull quick start feature is great, it starts up all the time and no more priming the throttle. It is also a quieter than my last Craftsman which I had for more than 10 years. I've had the mower for 5 months now and it has not disappointed. Plus Sears shipped it to my house for free what a bonus!

adjust how high

Bought 190cc great price. But ran into problem cutting the lawn. Set both wheels at same number, found height in front not same as in back, had to set front on 4 and 3 on back to get same height cutting. Plastic wheels whats the deal? I can not see that lasting very long. But do not get me wrong, I have had good results by buying at sears. Just wish craftsman would take a little bit more time in making what they make. I would like to think it will last a long time, and not be a throw away after just a few years of using it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nothing but problems

Not bad for power and engine performance, but the adjustable height system is GARBAGE!! I try to keep my grass cut kind of tall, but the mower body kept falling. Sometimes I couldn't even get the mower started before I had to pick it back up and readjust the height control. The spring-loaded starter went out after only two years, and the local Sears repair shop is only open 9am to 5pm M-F. I work those hours, too. Don't people need mowers serviced on the weekends?

This is a BEAST!!!

I can?t push fast enough to load this mower down and compared to the battery powered mower it replaced it feels weightless. I read some of the negative reviews and I do know it does not like to start hot (maybe something to do with the auto choke) but I give it 15 minutes to cool off and so far 3 pulls is the max. Anyone looking for a solid affordable push mower this is my recommendation.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Customer Service?

I never used this. It was damaged out of the box. This is where Sears customer service bombed. The lever to adjust the height of the deck was bent into the wheel, jamming it. I could have bent it into location, but this is my first brand new mower, and who wants bent parts that look nasty on their first new thing? So I called customer service and for some reason my phone number isn't linked to my order, but I have my order number. The first guy hung up on me. The second guy, JD, couldn't help me (even with an order number!) because I didn't have the phone number linked to the order, so he gave me a phone number to call. It was Chase Bank. I love Chase, but they can't help me with my mower. So I abandoned phone calls and tried chat. They said I had to remove the part, send it to them where they will inspect it and determine if it is bent (at my cost). If it is determined to be bent, they will send me a new part and I can put it on. So I'm returning it.

190cc* High Wheel Rear Bag Push Mower 50 States

The large 7.25HP motor really cuts through thick, tough St. Augustine grass without hesitation. This is a replacement for another Craftsman mover 6 years old with 4.25HP motor. Older mower struggled in Spring/Summer to cut the thick grass, this mower, no problems!! No five stars due to the large amount of plastic used vs. all metal in prior version. Time will tell if this holds up as well. Strange handle setup (triangle shaped vs. straight), but getting used to it. Softened it up using tennis wrap.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
