Me & my wife purchased this pushmower this weekend for mowing our back yard and around the house where a lawn tractor cannot fit. My last mower was loaned out and was returned damaged beyond repair and we needed a new mower (this one will not be loaned out). I used my utility knife and cut the box open and grabbed the owner's manual and went through it, before I started assembling the mower. This was very easy to setup and took no tools to assemble. I filled the engine with the supplied oil that came with the mower. After the mower was assembled and oil and fresh gas was added, the next step was to set the mower height. Setting the mower deck height wss extremely easy to raise and lower the mower. After everything was completed, the mower cranked on the very first pull. The engine was running smooth and I went straight to mowing. The grass was kind of high and the engine handled the grass height with plenty of power and the engine never bogged down.. I shut the mower down several times to empty the mower bag and the mower restarted on the first pull on each additional start. I mowed around the front of the house as well and used the mower for a large part of the day and it operated very well for its inagural yard work. This mower was just right for my needs and so was the price range. I didn't need a fancy or high end pushmower. I did like the mower cleaning attatchment and just had to add my garden hose to clean the under-deck after I was done for the day. The grass catcher is very easy to apply and remove and it is very easy to dump the bag. There is also a removable side discharge to use when you are not needing the rear grass bag.
I am very pleased with my purchase so far and did put it to a solid work load test today and it handled everything that I threw at it. I will update my review after I put some more hours on the mower, but so far, I have no complaints for the price......
In the first 6 months of owning this lawnmower I would have given it great ratings. After owning the mower a year now I have to agree with most of the negative feedback. My height adjustment broke just before rolling over my sprinkler. Sprinkler didn't survive. It took nearly 2 weeks but Sears fixed the mower. A week later the mower failed to start after several pulls. I returned the mower to Sears and they fixed it within a week. Two months later (today 11/11/14) it won't start again. I am losing faith in the Craftsman name. My last mower lasted over 18 years without one problem.
Read the negative reviews and believe them. I was happy the 1st year and would have given it high marks. I've had it a year and now the height adjustment won't stay up...it falls down when I start it! Others have noticed this also. It also just started running for a few minutes and then cutting off. I cleaned the air filter, have always used ethanol-free, fresh gas.The same gas works great in my Honda pressure washer...I guess I should have gotten a Honda mower! Why do I feel like warranty repairs are going to be a nightmare?
After my Craftsman Eager1 finally died after 15 years of loyal service in early July, I desperately needed a new mower. I was about to purchase a Toro but checked out the Sears site and seen this one on sale. What a great purchase. Took no longer than 5 minutes to put together. You can basically start it with a slight pull with your pinky finger. I'm estimating that I currently have 40+ hours on it and ZERO problems. The only drawback(s), and this is not a complaint, the fuel tank and grass catcher are on the small side.
There is only a single lever, NOT a dual lever, to adjust the front wheel height. The lever kept slipping for several months, requiring constant adjustments. Yesterday the adjustment lever broke off; of course, the warranty has expired. This mower is also very difficult to start; sometimes it starts and runs fine. Other times it starts after several days of trying. My last similar Craftsman mower lasted 20 years. I only used this mower for the limited areas that my riding mower can't reach. I've always believed in Craftsman products and tools but after this bad experience, I will no longer be loyal to Craftsman mowers. This is the first product review I've ever felt compelled to write because I'm so upset with this mower.

When my lawn more quit on me...well I had it for over 10 years the first place of I thought of was Sears. They offer the Briggs and Stratton brand which is always a winner with me and I have not been disappointed with the machine.
My reviewing is the same as others I've seen. Used the mower twice, about 20 mins total use. It sat for a month. Wouldn't start. Sears sent it out since they don't handle repair in the store. Weeks later I got a reply saying needed tuneup. The only thing that wasen't covered. $50.00 A mower should have to be tuned up for dozens and dozens of uses. After month of back and forth they replaced with same model. Used once, never would start again. I think it's factory defect. I think it's a bad carb. I know how to work on and run had several. This one is a lemon for sure.
