Me & my wife purchased this pushmower this weekend for mowing our back yard and around the house where a lawn tractor cannot fit. My last mower was loaned out and was returned damaged beyond repair and we needed a new mower (this one will not be loaned out). I used my utility knife and cut the box open and grabbed the owner's manual and went through it, before I started assembling the mower. This was very easy to setup and took no tools to assemble. I filled the engine with the supplied oil that came with the mower. After the mower was assembled and oil and fresh gas was added, the next step was to set the mower height. Setting the mower deck height wss extremely easy to raise and lower the mower. After everything was completed, the mower cranked on the very first pull. The engine was running smooth and I went straight to mowing. The grass was kind of high and the engine handled the grass height with plenty of power and the engine never bogged down.. I shut the mower down several times to empty the mower bag and the mower restarted on the first pull on each additional start. I mowed around the front of the house as well and used the mower for a large part of the day and it operated very well for its inagural yard work. This mower was just right for my needs and so was the price range. I didn't need a fancy or high end pushmower. I did like the mower cleaning attatchment and just had to add my garden hose to clean the under-deck after I was done for the day. The grass catcher is very easy to apply and remove and it is very easy to dump the bag. There is also a removable side discharge to use when you are not needing the rear grass bag.
I am very pleased with my purchase so far and did put it to a solid work load test today and it handled everything that I threw at it. I will update my review after I put some more hours on the mower, but so far, I have no complaints for the price......

Unless you have a tiny, extremely flat lawn with very, very smooth ground, DO NOT buy this model !!!! You will probably shoot yourself. I am kicking my ****. I could scream !!!!

I used it about 20 times last year and it doesn't start this year. I properly drained the gas for winterizing it. When trying to start no gas is getting to the spark plug since it is dry. Must be a bad carb or something. Pretty sad since it is only 11 months old. Guess I'll be taking it in because I don't want to mess with the carb. I have had numerous other mowers and generally with a little sta-bil you are fine for winter. Model 917.370410

Had this mower for less than a month and then came hurricane Sandy. It was submerged in 5ft of water. After the water receded, I washed it off and threw some marvel mystery oil into the oil fill and put it away for the winter. Fast forward to one month ago. I had to replace the carburetor because it has significantly corroded from the salt water. I changed the oil and put fresh gasoline in it. It started on the second pull. I have mowed the lawn 3 times since and the mower is running great. Briggs and Stratton motors have once again won my confidence.

I bought this mower in late May 2012. We had a dry summer and I used it 3 or 4 times. When I tried to use it this year it sputtered once and now will not fire. Contacted Sears about returning the mower and was basically told it had to be my fault. Contacted Craftsman and was told the same. They want to say it had to have old gas. I did drain the old gas and used new, but they do not want to stand by their product. Just to make sure I did clean the carb. Still will not even attempt to fire. Very disappointed with Craftsman. I have noticed others with the same issue. I just feel they should be able to stand by the product.

I used this mower 3 times, I repeat 3 times and it died. I couldn't restart it. No choke is a disaster. I've bought Craftsman push mowers for over 30 years but never again.

Very disappointed in the quality of the engine. After only a month of use, it runs poorly and is hard to start. This is the second mower in two months and the first mower had the same issues. Craftsman stood for quality at one time but not anymore in my opinion.

I purchased this mower last October and used it a few times into early November. Winterized the motor and put it in the shed. Pulled it out of the shed tonight and it started with one pull of the cord. I am very happy with this purchase.

It started but barely, and it went from sputtering to almost dying, and a few more times then it would not run.

overall does well hard to find parts and some items like wheels and bags are cheap and don't last too well

I purchased this mower about a year ago when my electric one died. At first it started very easily and cut the grass without a problem. After that, not so much. It wouldn't start so I cleaned the spark plug, cleaned the air filter, checked the carb for varnish, cleaned the carburator (even though it didn't look like it needed it), reset the magneto gap and generally cleaned and lubed all springs and pivot points. The lawn mower started and ran well until it got warmed up. I stopped the mower to empty the bag and it wouldn't restart until it was cold again. If I wanted to finish cutting my grass in one day, I would have to defeat the safety kill switch and have someone hold the bar while I emptied the bag---not a good idea by the way. Please don't try that! I would suspect that there is a problem with either the magneto or the points. Pretty poor quality though, having to replace the magneto or points on a year-old machine.
