      Great mower for the price

Me & my wife purchased this pushmower this weekend for mowing our back yard and around the house where a lawn tractor cannot fit. My last mower was loaned out and was returned damaged beyond repair and we needed a new mower (this one will not be loaned out). I used my utility knife and cut the box open and grabbed the owner's manual and went through it, before I started assembling the mower. This was very easy to setup and took no tools to assemble. I filled the engine with the supplied oil that came with the mower. After the mower was assembled and oil and fresh gas was added, the next step was to set the mower height. Setting the mower deck height wss extremely easy to raise and lower the mower. After everything was completed, the mower cranked on the very first pull. The engine was running smooth and I went straight to mowing. The grass was kind of high and the engine handled the grass height with plenty of power and the engine never bogged down.. I shut the mower down several times to empty the mower bag and the mower restarted on the first pull on each additional start. I mowed around the front of the house as well and used the mower for a large part of the day and it operated very well for its inagural yard work. This mower was just right for my needs and so was the price range. I didn't need a fancy or high end pushmower. I did like the mower cleaning attatchment and just had to add my garden hose to clean the under-deck after I was done for the day.  The grass catcher is very easy to apply and remove and it is very easy to dump the bag. There is also a removable side discharge  to use when you are not needing the rear grass bag.

I am very pleased with my purchase so far and did put it to a solid work load test today and it handled everything that I threw at it. I will update my review after I put some more hours on the mower, but so far, I have no complaints for the price......

      Used 3 or 4 times
I bought this mower in late May 2012. We had a dry summer and I used it 3 or 4 times. When I tried to use it this year it sputtered once and now will not fire. Contacted Sears about returning the mower and was basically told it had to be my fault. Contacted Craftsman and was told the same. They want to say it had to have old gas. I did drain the old gas and used new, but they do not want to stand by their product. Just to make sure I did clean the carb. Still will not even attempt to fire. Very disappointed with Craftsman. I have noticed others with the same issue. I just feel they should be able to stand by the product.

      Quiet!

This is a basic self-propelled lawnmower. It has a pull start, bag for clippings and the best part is the connection on the deck that you can attach your hose to and spray clean the blades and the underside of the mower. I've only used it once so far but it started right up, has wheels that have really easy height adjustments on them and clipped the grass into small pieces. Best of all is how quiet it runs. I love it so far since it is just what I needed. Not real fancy, but with good care should run for many years.

A lot of mower for the money

Love the color and finish. I went with this push mower for the large 190cc engine. Never unhappy with too much torque. Engine is a work horse and starts on first pull. Same basic engine on my 1998 push mower that is still going strong. Old mower has larger rear wheels and it is amazing how much lighter this mower seems to be. It feels like it weighs half as much. Much easier to mow and handle with the smaller rear wheels. I suggest you compare the difference between large and small rear wheels. I had no idea there was that much difference.

      Overall good mower

The first mower I ever owned was a Craftsmen and I got 10 years out of it before bending the shaft. The last mower I had was a $99 Poulan and believe it or not it started and still will start first or second pull but the rear part of the deck where the rear wheels are rotted out. My Poulan lasted 5 years so at 20 a year I still think it was a great deal. Now on to the craftsman I have been looking for a replacement since last year and decided I could not wait any longer. I knew I wanted a bigger motor than the 4.5 hp briggs on the the Poulan but was not set on a brand. I was leaning towards a Cub Cadet or a Lawnboy and I did research, I've read reviews out the wazzoo and I've compared prices too. Finally I decided to look at Craftsman again and found the prices online change everyday. Finally I found this mower at 211.99 craftsman club price and with 30.00 of other incentives making it 181.99 plus ************* I decided to go with this one. It comes with a free sample for your first fillup of stabil and from what I've read, you do need to use it. Stabil markets regular and daily use but comparing the ingredient they are the same and yes I meant ingredient singular. I got almost a half an acre with my first fillup and that ran it bone dry. It has a no prime system and It took me two pulls both times from a cold engine to start it. Once it started it was a one pull start from a warm engine. The first start though it had a rough idle for a good 30 - 40 secs before smoothing out and running nicely. Not thinking I did not raise the height adjustments on the more and I left the mulching system on ( that I meant to do ) and I went straight over wet grass as we had rain the night before. This mower showed no signs of bogging down but was hard to push. I cleaned and mowed the tested area and then set the height adjustments to the 4th notch, for me this was two high so I changed it to the 3rd notch and that was perfect. I proceed to do all the close work as I planned on using my riding mower. I then took a break and ate me something. Coming back to a cold mower two pulls and she fires right up. I then mowed until she quit. I have an acre yard and I was roughly half done. I tried the side discharge and quickly went back to mulching because my grass was high and I didn't want to rake and the mulching looked great. Now when the box arrived from ups it looked like it had been through WWII and I was a little leary of what shape the mower would be in but luckily it looked great. Two things to note that is really amazing about this mower is just how easy to pull start it. If you are use to older mowers you will probably throw your arm out of socket. LOL It's just that easy to pull, I'm going to say 1/3 the effort if not less. The other is the power of this mower, in wet grass that hadn't been cut in two weeks and mulching, it did not bog down, it did not struggle in the least and the lawn looked great.

Best starting mower I ever had

I had an earlier version of this mower that had the same engine. I bought this one cause the 190cc Briggs & Stratton engine was unbelievable. No choke. Just pull the rope. Always would start on first pull. Air filter was easy to remove and clean. The newer model is the same setup but with a washable deck, and better height adjustment for the wheels. This is the best value for your money if you do not have a large area to mow that would require wheel drive in my opinion. I would recommend it without reservation.

      Very adequate

This lawn mower was easy and quick to assemble, no tools required. It operates very nice. I've used it twice thus far and it's easy to operate, requiring one easy pull of the cord and it starts right up. It's a nice lawn mower.
