Works well for light duty
Good combo set for a DIY mechanic. Fairly easy to use. Jack works well and jack stands hold the specified load easily. As another reviewer mentioned the max height is 15. Per the instructions I did the break-in procedure with the jackbasically raising and lowering the jack with no resistance. The handle is removable and serves to fit into the female sleeve to lift the jack, and then can be moved to fit into the male sleeve release valve. For those who never owned a hydraulic lift, the release valve on this one functions similar to a screw, where you tighten (i.e. close) the valve to be able to raise the jack. Unscrew (i.e. open) the valve and the jack lowers. To close, just turn the valve clockwise until it stops, then a hair bit more, do NOT over tighten like a nut. This valve does NOT need to be over tightened. I was a little worried that the jack would lower too quickly, as another review mentioned. After using it, I can see that the release valve is very sensitive and if you open the release valve too quickly and too much, while under load, the jack will unload quickly and your car will come down violently. Solution: open the valve slowly. VERY slowly. The trick is to not over tighten the valve. If you do over tighten, you'll have to apply extra force to open the valve and that's when you will over compensate to break the valve open (similar to an over tightened nut), and open the valve more than it needs to be opened to release the load. You can't just turn the release valve while your standing up and expect it to come down gently. Kneeling down, I use an overhand grip on the middle of the handle, while holding the end of the handle with the other hand; then very slowly turn the handle (unscrew the valve) incrementally. The valve is very sensitive to movement. Practice with the lift unloaded. If I had to use it professionally everyday multiple times per day I'd go with a different lift. While it's not perfect, for the sale price and for light duty use, it's a great deal for me.

Decent Set.
The jack uses a small valve that you turn counter clockwise for lowering. I tested different heights, and the higher I lifted the jack the harder it became to turning the valve to lower it. When lowering from a higher position with more pressure on the jack, it would violently come down, but the set is good enough for tire changes and rotations. I unfortunately will be returning this set, due to I need to lift my vehicles higher and can't allow the violent lowering that this jack gives. Also one of the jack stands fell down a notch when I tested it, which is pretty scary and a contributing factor for my decision on returning this item. Don't get me wrong I love craftsman tools and over 80% of my tools are craftsman, but I may look for a different brand for a hydraulic jack!

Craftsman 2-1/4 ton Floor Jack Set with 2-1/4 ton Jack Stands

ITEM IS A GREAT VALUE! Looking for a replacement and found this combo offer that included the floor jack and jack stands for what I would of normally paid to purchase just the floor jack... This product is preforming as I need for a weekend mechanic.

Overall
Poor quality

I bought this set about 7 months ago and when i tried it out one of the casters wheels would get stuck sideways when lowering and cause the jack to slip off the car so i returned it but i decided to try it again today and when you would lift the jack to a certain point you would have to put your whole weight on the handle to pump the jack up so back and went again.... It's a good deal for the price but overall its poor quality

Stands Great - Jack?

The stands worked very well. I found that the jack wouldn't lower enough to get under my car. I had to use the scissor jack from my car. I would recommend the combo only if you don't own a sports car.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not enough lifting power

Followed procedure to bleed the jack. It had a hard time lifting my hybrid, had to put my entire weight onto handle to pump up the car 1/4 an inch.

Was ok, at first

After about a year of using this (seldomly, and lightly), it stopped holding air, so the jack would slowly lower. Not impressed. I don't know if this one is a lemon or what, but I'd probably buy again and take a chance that the one I now own is just defective.
