After the last hurricane in Galveston, the jack that the Jeep manufacturer placed in the car collapsed after (3) tire changes. It left me stranded on the Causeway the last flat. I had to get a jack that I could count on to lift my Jeep and hold it's position on solid ground. The Craftsman Hydraulic Jack does the trick. It's dependable and I know I can count on it. I've found several other uses for it too. I restored my deck and used it to jack up my deck -- worked great !!! I have also restructured a support on my boat. I had to move the shape of the hull and hold it until I could get a support in place. Once again, the Craftsman Hydraulic Jack work great !!! I now have (2) in my Jeep, just in case I get into trouble again. The tiny little jack can do wonders on lifting and holding the weight -- it's strong, built solid and I can depend on it !!!

The jack is cheap at $20, small enough to fit under a car that a lot of bottle jacks don't, has a good height range, and has a maximum weight that's enough for most cars and light trucks. A release valve that could be comfortably turned by hand instead of with the bar would be an improvement, but not by enough to take off a point.

My main interest in this little bottle jack was to keep in the car trunk in place of the standard scissors jack in case of emergency. Although I haven't used it on my car yet (compact sedan), I'm sure it would easily do the job assuming you had blocks of wood, etc to make the clearance issues work out. It's small, lightweight, and mechanically simplistic which means you shouldn't have many problems using or maintaing it. The hydraulic fluid was a little low when I checked it, but that's a simple fix. My main concern is that the seals might eventually leak, but at less than $20 it's a risk worth taking.

Purchased this jack 3 years ago from the Sears store in Titusville to help level out a travel trailer. Jack still works. No rust. All parts work as they should.

it's much smaller than i expected but it works very well. but, be noted that there is no rubber grip or storage clip for the handle, which is described on the webpage.

Great Hydraulic Jack for a good price. I originally thought a 2 Ton capacity might not be enough for my project. My need was to raise a 7' X 16' Lionel train table, 6" higher. I realized that even with this size board consisting of 1/2" plywood, 1 X 4 pine framework and eight 2x4 legs & bracing, a 2 ton jack was more than enough. It was. The quality of the jack was excellent, as was it's lifting ability. Great buy.

I purchased the jack the other day with the intentions of using it periodically during oil changes and tire rotations (I'd love a nice floor jack, but can't afford it at the moment [ie my wife says I can't buy one right now]). I had originally wanted a 4-ton model, but for some reason Sears is discontinuing it and, thus, the store did not have any. This 2-ton model is plenty for my needs right now and the price was right so I got it. When I got it out of its box I was amazed at how tiny it was. I thought there was no way it could lift 2-tons. I stuck it under the frame of my Nissan Frontier Desert Runner and sure enough it picked it up without a fuss. It didn't pick it up much, though, because it's so small, and the frame of the truck is pretty high off the ground (it would have no problem on a car). However, two short pieces of 2x6 under the base gave it more than enough height to pick the tire up off the ground. It's a small price to pay for something as portable and useful as it is. It is as at home in the garage as it is the trunk of a car.
