207 PC Tool Set

It has most of the items I wanted but the only way to get what you want is to buy everything individually. Actually more of a hassle to by the set. You end up to multiples of the same items.

Great Core Set

This is a great quality core tool set for anyone to start out with as others have said without repeating sizes. I bought this set nearly two years ago and really have not found the need to add much more. Yes the disadvantage of 6pt is using them in tight areas. To address this I bought a set of wratcheting wrenches to use once the bolt is broke free. Also the Craftsman Stubby Flexible ratchet I bought seperately has been invaluable for me in those tight areas to break bolts free. I really have found no need for other sockets or wreches other than what I have stated. Don't waste your money on a larger count kit for screwdriver tips with no warranty. Buy a quality set of screwdrivers either the Craftsman or Craftsman Professional drivers instead which is another great gift idea for another time.

Best value of all tool sets

I purchased a rollaround, chest and the 207 pc set as a high school graduation present for my oldest son. I've trained my kids to use 6 point wrenches and sockets whenever possible to prevent rounding fasteners. This set is the perfect combination of tools to get my guys out of my toolbox and on their own. I purchased some additional extensions and swivels, extended size box wrenches and 3/8 and 1/2 breaker bars to enhance the 207 pc set. Now I'm borrowing his tools because he's better equipped than I am! The only other needed is deepwell impact sockets. I recommend this set to anyone, you aren't paying for duplicate sizes in 6 and 12 point or a bunch of allen wrenches and screwdriver tips. At the price I paid it works out to about This set works out to about $1.30 for each rachet, wrench, socket or tool in the set. That's a bargain in my opinion.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 207 pc. Easy-to-Read Mechanics Tool Set with Impact So

This is a great Socket and wrench Set. I bought this set because it comes with a good all around socket sizes for 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive types and that includes deep sockets as well. But the main selling point for me was that every socket in this set is six a point socket. I've never been a big fan of the 12 pt. since they are mostly useless on rounded bolts and nuts. And can at times cause them to round even further. So this in turn is a good deal compared to all those other sets that give half of all it's sockets as 12 pt. especially for deep sockets. But here even the deep sockets are all 6 pt. The easy to read labels are a nice touch but mostly unnecessary unless the sockets are put into socket holders. Another selling point are the impact sockets. You get most of the commonly used sizes. The impact deep sockets fall a bit short of the commonly used sizes but at least you get a few of them. I didn't care for the screwdriver and nut drivers. That's just additional cost to otherwise useless tools. You don't even get a good range of sizes for the nut drivers. All the wrenches are also six point. The use of six point box end wrenches are debatable especially when using them in tight areas. The ratchets are not the nicest looking set. For laser etched sockets, you'd think they add the fancier looking set. To me it doesn't matter. In the end this is a great set for anyone who like me, prefers all six point sockets. You get no toolbox which I prefer because that also becomes additional cost for a cheaply made plastic toolbox that quickly falls apart. My only complaint was that one of the sockets delivered to me was a 12 pt. All others where 6. I originally looked for this set at the store but looks like it's only available online. I got my nearest Sears to order it for me online which granted me free delivery. That was nice.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Need a intermediate socket length between deep and standard

After using Craftsman tools for over 30 years, I keep running into issues that point to actually too issues. (1)No one including Craftsman provides intermediate socketsength sets for both 3/8 & 1/2 drive sets.   Many times I run into clearence issues and I was even thinking of cutting some of my deep sockets to fit.

(2) Over the past years Craftsman plating on all tools seem to have issues of delamination & rust.Guess for environmental or cost issues,  tools are not as durable as in prior years.

I have many tools from the mid 70s, that are clear of rust and have durable plating inspite of years of use and wear.

Everything you need

These tools have everything you need to do basic auto repair. It of course has the craftsman name so you know it is worth the buy. I wouldn't buy any other set of tools because if you need a special size socket wrench it would be best to buy it separately, unless you are a mechanic. Since I only maintain two vehicles I dont have to buy special socket sizes. This is a great buy and it has the quality and trust that you know you get with every craftsman tool.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

This is an excellent set of essential tools!

I first purchased the 283 piece set with the tool box.  I returned it and ordered this set.  Both sets are nice but I ordered this one for two reasons, ALL "6" point sockets/wrenches and Easy Read socket sizes.  For anyone wondering why I prefer the "6" point, let me share this... when you run across a fastener that was over torqued (and you will) the "6" point will have more "metal to metal" grip when the socket or wrench is connected to the fastener to break it free and reduce the possibility of "rounding" the fastener.

I've used several of these sockets and wrenches since I received them and the "snug" grip with every fastener I've tried them with is incredible, which is typical for the quality of Craftsman.

I would highly recommend this set to someone just starting to build a top quality collection of "core" tools.  If you're NOT a member of the "Craftsman Club", join so you can add to your set in the future at discounted prices.

When you're looking to buy a new set of tools, "don't" just buy a set because of price and a "high" tool count.  If you do, you'll get a lot of miscellaneous items you'll never use and not enough of what you will need to do light to medium work around the house or with your vehicle.  Before you buy any set, make a list of essential items that are "must haves" in your collection, then go shopping.

Have a GREAT day!  Tim D.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great socket set

I have been dealing with a small socket set for a long time and this Easy-to-read metric and SAE socket set is perfect for my home garage. I didn't need all the miscellaneous/specialty tools found in most tool sets. I ordered this set the day I found it on Sears.com. I have already put it to use and the easy-to-read sockets are just that. For anyone that has been dealing with a "mix and match" set of sockets this is a must buy.
