I bought this Tiller to rework my Garden Laws. Was initially impressed as it was a step up from the small Honda tiller I had previously borrow. However it the LH tine broke after around 25 hours tilling over 4 months. Another tine broke after about another hour use.
At this point I brought the tiller back into Sears where I had to pay $39 diagnostic fee even though it was under warranty and clearly a design flaw. I told them there appears to be a quality issue with the welds on the tine and to please replace them all.
Well I finally got the tiller back yesterday after over 3 weeks and they replaced only the two broken tines. I asked the manager if I was going to go though this ordeal again if another breaks and he said this is just the way it is.
So finally I was glad to get back into this and finish my tilling so I can resow my lawn. Well one hour in I have just had another tine break (This time on the right). There goes another 3 weeks without my tiller just when I need to get this finished.
So unimpressed with the quality and service from Sears and Craftsman. I had orgianlly picked this over competitors product because I was expecting better service from Sears. You live and learn.

It was easy to assemble even for a small woman like me. I enlarged my garden by tilling a 20' x 15' section of lawn. It eat through 3/4'' roots and tilled up 6 and 7 inch rocks with no strain on the engine and no bent tines. This tiller has all of the power you'll ever want. The only improvement to this machine would be a wider wheel base. Because the wheels are rather closely set and have some play it was harder to keep in a straight line and turn than it should be. I intend to have the farm equipment shop down the road weld a 5 or 6 inch extension to the wheel shaft, spreading the wheel base. That will make this the perfect tiller at a great price. Hey Sears engineers, widen the wheel base and this is a 100% winner!

It runs OK and tills the garden OK so far, but the first time I used it I hit a rock and it dented the housing around the tines. It is built much cheaper than the old one that this replaced. The old one was 10-15 years old. This one seems like it won't last near as long as my old one did. I have a small garden and don't plan on tilling up a big area so this one might be fine.

No complaints. Started on the first pull and worked all afternoon. Solid construction; quality medium to large garden work horse. Price is right: with tillers like this renting for $65 a day, this baby will pay for itself in no time!

It worked OK -- briefly -- having been used lightly for one season (less than 10 hours total). Then the carburetor seal shattered (note that Sears does not have them in stock, so you have to order one for a dollar plus a $5 shipping charge) and I took it in for service since I had a service agreement, my second mistake. I've been "advised" by the "authorities" that my review won't be approved if I don't focus on the "features of this machine", so, well, it features a carburetor that breaks almost immediately, and which takes at least five to six weeks to fix, if it can be fixed at all, which is by no means certain since I haven't gotten it back yet. My recommendations: don't ever buy this machine, and don't ever rely on a Sears service agreement.

Great tiller. Works great when tilling a new space for garden and is even easier to use in an existing garden.

I wouldn't tell you to buy this and expect it to break up sod easily, but it will do it with some elbow grease. There is PLENTY of power. The motor never seems to struggle at all, but the smaller tines I think are what make it a bit less easy. I can't complain...because it was only $399. Well worth the price, easy to assemble and operate. I am overall happy with the purchase. Next year it should be even better when I only have to re-till my pre-existing garden...:-) Oh...and defiantly get the extended warranty on this. I beat myself up for not doing this on my previous garden tractor purchase. They come to you house and fix it on the spot!

No catch or holder for the depth bar. If this had a clip to hold the depth bar it would be easier to move from place to place. Because the depth bar cannot be lifted out of the way, you are forced to pull the tiller backwards to move to storage.

I am very impressed with this rototiller. Very easy to put together, quality construction. Started on 2nd pull. Does a fantastic job of tilling, even in rocky soil. I highly recomend this front tine tiller.
