Overall, others give this:
I bought his machine in near new condition. It still had the factory "break-in" oil that I changed out as soon as I got it home from the CraigsList seller. Also had to "top off" hydraulic fluid no big deal.. Seller said there was only 10 hours on the machine. I've been burning wood as my only source of heat for a few years and use up 8-cords a season. Mostly Doug Fir and/or Maple if I can get it at a reasonable cost. But I'm 63 and decided I was getting a little "long in the tooth" to be splitting my wood by hand. I'm also on a fixed income and although I've thought about a wood splitter in the past, it was difficult "pulling the trigger" to spend upwards of $2K. After using it on some Maple I truly regret not buying this machine earlier. If anyone has any doubts about buying one, trust me it's worth it. Your back will thank you. Frankly it was more work stacking the wood than splitting it. Absolutely no regrets so far. Although at 600 lbs. it's a beast to move around easily.

picked up at store, towed it 70 miles , checked oil(s), OK , gassed it worked great. The log holders are nice. Need to add some additional engine metal protection from errant logs. But again better than expected, split all logs I threw at it. Would recommend

this a great splitter, cranks on first pull splits with ease the only problem is it don't go into neutral everytime like it should and that is a pain i hate for something not to operate like it should but other than that i have no complaints.i would recommend checking every bolt before using.the first one i bought was'nt assembled right and came apart and dislocated the knuckle on my thumb.the 2nd one works great except for the neutral deal

A large tag on the splitter assures the customer that it is ready to go-just add gas and pull the cord. However, the hydro fluid didn't even register on the dip stick, and I had to add nearly a half gallon of fluid. Secondly, the control lever does not always flip into neutral when the piston is fully retracted. Starts w/first pull and runs/splits oak great.

Control handle does not return to neutral all the time after ram is fully reversed.

I recently purchased the 27 ton log splitter and I towed it home from my local Sears store was quite pleased as it tracked good behind my pickup at 55 mph. As soon as I go home I finished the set up which took about 10 minutes put some gas in it and I was quite surprised that it started on the 1st pull. The first few logs I split were oak about 24" diameter and it handled these logs like a knife thur hot butter. I don't have many hours on the splitter yet but I am very pleased so far and look forward to many years of service from this product.

We bought the Craftsman 208CC OHV 27-Ton Log Splitter for my dad this past Christmas. Most of the wood he splits is live oak cut in central Texas Hill Country and I was concerned that the splitter wouldn't be able to do the job because of the hardness of the wood. This splitter did the job and then some. We put a piece on the splitter with burl and it took care of it. My dad's only complaint was that the engine isn't loud enough because now he'll be able to hear mom tell him how he should split the wood. Seriously the engine is quiet, sounds like it is idling but it isn't.
