The scraper bar is not thick enough gauge to last. If you don't break something else on this shovel (which would be covered by the Craftsman guarantee) then you will wear out the bar which is not covered. That is planned obsolence on Sears' part. Also, the older Craftsman snow shovel (coated aluminum scoop, galvanized blade, D-handle, fibre handle) is no longer sold so they got me on that one. Can't replace it however it happens to break - clever work Sears. My much much older non-Craftsman, non Sears (coated aluminum scoop, thick gauge blade, long wood handle with out D-handle) is not as easy to use (no D-handle) but it is still going strong. My Craftsman is absolutely unusable as of this year. Maybe I can find a machine shop to rebuild my Craftsman the way it should have been built in the first place.
By the way, I am a card carrying Sears Best customer and I am getting fed up with some of the expensive name brand junk I have purchased at Sears in the last couple of years.
Do NOT buy appliances at Sears - you can't get a worthwhile extended warranty which is needed due to the way appliances are built these days. Buy your appliances from a local appliance store which has their own factory authorized service. Another words, when you pay for a warranty, make sure it will be honored by the Maytag man not some clown hired by Sears with an offshore service call scheduling phone line.
I live in Massachusetts, and I picked this last one up at my local Sears store. It's helped me out throughout these crazy hectic storms the passed few days, I'm personally not a big fan of the metal part at the very bottom for scraping. However, it is a nice shovel!
The snow shovel I bought this month is lightweight yet sturdy and durable. It is comfortable to use and is easy to clean and store. I highly recommend this show shovel.
After 2-years I'm still pleased with this snow shovel. It still feels solid without anything cracked or broken. Last year we had some real wet and heavy snow so I was shoveling/tossing some heavy stuff without any problems. The only drawback I found is the metal blade/scraper bent a little. It still shovels fine. Pros: extremely light, but durable; easy grip Cons: metal blade/scraper too thin
I love the shovel. Seemed to do the job. Not too sure about the metal edging on the bottom. We have to re-evaluate in two more years.
This shovel got used extensively after the snow stopped and it performed wonderfully. Not too big, not too small. light and strong, I am a very satisfied customer.

purchased yesterday and had a 6 inch snowfall today, mostly light fluffy snow and these worked pretty well. I'm concerned the plastic/metal combination may not hold up but hoping to get at least a few years out of this shovel.
