Craftsman 21 in. Rear Drive Self-Propelled Lawn Mower Matches You Stride for Stride

The Craftsman 21 in. OHV engine lawn mower provides a comfortable experience by matching your natural stride, using the My Stride Pace Control System. As well as getting the perfect mowing speed, you also enjoy durable and long-lasting parts from the trusted Craftsman brand. The mower runs cooler and cleaner than competitors with an overhead valve system, too. In addition, the mower adjusts quickly and accurately with its single-lever deck height adjustment feature; there are six positions in total for the mower that start fast with auto choke.

The Craftsman 21 in. rear drive self-propelled lawn mower handles a range of terrain, too. When you're on uneven or bumpy land, the lawn mower's 11 in. high rear wheels easily handle the challenge. For hills, the 159cc engine provides the power easily to meet the challenge. You can even personalize the mower's height by simply pulling the 3-position handle, helping prevent you from straining your arms while you cut the grass. Speaking of grass, it will be cut cleanly and look amazing thanks to the built-in high-performance 21 in. Precision Plus cutting system. This quality lawn mower also comes with a two-year warranty.

Seems like a great mower
I am 55 years old and owned a lot of mowers, this seems to be one of the coolest I have ever owned. First, I shopped all around for a month then decided the MyStride was the main reason to buy this mower and I was right. Took it out of the box, added oil and gas, started on the first easy pull. Started it 5 or 6 move times and everyone in the family had fun walking (not pushing it) around the yard! I would give it 5 stars but one of the hubcaps fell off almost immediately, I was able to secure it correctly to the wheel, but that should not have happened.

Only Good On Smooth Flat Lawns
I recently bought a Craftsmen "My Stride" mower. The handle was very comfortable, but as you mow, the handle (that controls speed) naturally moves back and forth a little, so the mower speeds up and slows down all the time. This happens on slightly rough terrain, hills, and around tight curves - extremely frustrating. The tendency to do this is almost impossible to avoid or correct for. Even if you could - you would be concentrating the whole time on the effort required to do so, as well as the effort to just mow the lawn - unacceptable in my mind. This seems to be an excellent mower, but when I returned it to Sears, even the salesman said that it really is only good on smooth flat lawns. So if you plan on using it to mow football fields, it should work great!

Stay away from this mower!

Worst lawn mower I've ever owned, Control cable broke within the first 4 months, will hardly pull itself if the grass is very deep, and does a bad job of cutting grass cleanly. It just seams to tear the grass like the blade is really dull even though this is a new mower.

AVOID THIS MOWER

Mower seemed great at first, then the problems began. First after about 4 uses, screws worked loose on transmission housing that held drive pulley so no self- propell. Fixed that with screws found in toolbox and used loctite. Been working for 3 months now. Now control cable snapped while using and engine stopped. Ordered new cable for $28. Warranty would have fixed these problems if willing to wait 3-4 weeks for each problem. Worst mower I ever owned. Poor build quality!

Nice Mower

My first new mower in 12 years, what a difference a decade makes. Easy to assemble, much lighter easy to start and quieter. Yes, the My Stride takes some getting used to and it's a little tricky on hills, but I can live with that. We'll see how it holds up from a durability perspective.

Awesome

Just got mine, easy set up, just adjust the handle and assemble the grass catcher, fill it with oil and gas and you are on your way. I have a average size lot with full St, Augustine grass. I do not bag my clipping and was concern about the mulching ability. It handled the 4 inch grass blades without any problems. The performance was outstanding. The walk behind accelerator was easy to get use to after a few a laps. If your are considering a lawn mover? This one has all the bells and whistles with the exception of a key start at a great price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Mower

After reading the reviews decided on this model. My lawn has a gentle slope. Works great going up hill, has plenty of power in tall grass using the exhaust shout. Mulches well in the shorter grass. The rear wheel drive and large wheels make mowing a breeze.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Just got it yesterday

The "My Stride" function was nearly impossible to control when I first tried out this mower. The problem is that there is no resistance on the speed control bar when you go forward, so it jerks & stops, over & over. I fixed the problem by using a bungee cord attached to the pull-start bracket, running under the bottom handle and attached to the red speed control handle. Gives good resistance to pushing forward, and does not hinder stopping.

Loved this mower before I realized I got a lemon

I had a craftsman mower for 13 years before I finally gave in a bought a new one. After the initial period of getting used to the way this My Stride mower handles, I would say it is the best mower I ever used. Cuts beautiful and inclines were no problem. I bought this in April and took it to the Sears repair shop in July only to find out it needs a new transmission and a gear case and a carburetor clean out... And on top of that, I won't get the mower back for almost 4 weeks! I did purchase an extended warranty, but this repair is covered under the original warranty. I have spoken to no less than 6 Sears/sears.com/sears repair center employees today only to find out that I will be stuck with a 3 month old "refurbished" My Stride mower. They will not replace the mower if they can fix it. I have never had a transmission go in any mower I have ever used. Obviously, this mower is a lemon. That being said, I am sure I will eventually get my money back from using my extended warranty over and over and over again the next 3 years if this is they way this all started. I am very disappointed in the way Sears is standing behind this product.
