The absolute Best single stage thrower I have ever used!
I use single stage snow throwers for my commercial snow plowing company. I have used Toro's for the last 4 years. We started having carb problems while prepping them for this years winter work and have been waiting for parts for the last week. Mother nature didn't wait and we got our first snow fall tonight. 2 - 4 inches of wet snow with a 1/2 inch of slush and ice underneath. I did some quick research and purchased this snow blower from Sears. I am absolutely very impressed!! We have Never had a single stage thrower perform this well in heavy wet snow. Not one chute clog or lack of power, it even easily handled the piles generated from the first and second passes and cleaned up compacted tire marks right down to the pavement. This is truly a work horse, the light is very bright and I found it useful. My first impression of the chute control was that it would be hokey and break easily. Not true, it was very sturdy and performed well in the field with no issues. Temps were in the middle 20's, it started easily with no issues and I only briefly had to choke it at the start of the night from job to job it started the first pull with only two primes and no choke. The main reason this blower caught my eye was the added cowling designed at the top of the intake to enclose the impeller for better performance and prevent clogs. I thought it looked like a good idea and it was! It is a huge difference the Toro's would start to build up snow and clog the chute and just blow snow out the front of the machine every time, especially in wet snow. Great job Sears, don't change a thing!

sears isnt what it used to be. they sent me a broken snow blower

i recieved a dented blower that had been miss assembled. the light wire was cut and then twisted back togather with black tape. the belt came off twice on the first engine run. i emailed sears. i got 4 computer generated emails that i responded to that lead me to never never land. i called the ft wayne store. no response. so i  pulled the cover off the belt housing and found out the auger assy had not been tighted up. once i tightened up the bolt the belt stayed on. but the auger and the belt left a lot of rubber on my sidewalk. i again contacted sears. again no response. ive waited 3 weeks. oh the electric start is 120 volts not 12 as i thought it was. the advertizment is a little illusive. but once you repair the unit yourself and have 100ft of cord you should be fine. it does blow snow. and i fixed the light too. and i bought a new belt and auger paddles and im pretty sure all the rubber from the first run im gonna need to replace them. cause sears isnt what it used to be.

worked great in KC.,MO.

I bought this single stage snow blower last year on a clearance sale and bought the 208cc modle over the 178cc modle for just a few dollars more. it only snowed a few inches last year so the test wasn't much. last week it snowed 10" the blower chewed right through the snow and threw it clear over my double wide drive way (about 25'). the drifts were over 12" deep so i had to raise the front up to get on top. it cleaned right down to the concrete. had to help push to clear the ridge where the snow plow puhed the snow up at the street(20" deep)but it worked well with little effort. Being able to control the chute direction helped alot. no problems, worked great. another 11" snow waiting today.

Love it!!

This is my first snowblower. I researched many different ones and decided this was the one. I contimplated the purchase for 2 years and finally got it. And do I ever love it!! When I first pushed the machine into the snow, it threw the snow into the neighbor's driveway about 20-25 feet away. Good power! I pushed the machine into 18" snow that was clearly too high for the machine and it slowly ate its way through. I heard the engine bog down just a little bit, but pulled back, and then went at it again. Getting down to business and clearing the driveway with an even 8" blanket of snow, was easy. The chute control worked great. The ease of the machine was great; it pulls itself right along. The maneuverability was great too. Starting, stopping, turning, backing was all done easily. The machine did everything I hoped it would do. One item disappointed me. The electric start requires plugging into an outlet. Inconvenient. Was hoping it would be a key start like my mower. 1 star deduction.

Quality control issues.

I opened the box only to find out the entire shoot positioning lever, mounting bracket and connecting shaft was missing. The box looked brand new with no signs of being opened and resealed. Check your box before leaving the store. Luckily my wife was at Sears while I assembled the Snowblower so she ask one of the store associates if he could remove one from another box and he did. This must be an issue at the factory were they are packaged. Using it for the first time it started on the fist pull and the engine runs smoothly. The control for the shoot direction first requires you to wiggle the handle so it locked into the desired position. Secondly the shoot has a lot of play in the rotation so the position seems to move (when not straight forward facing) about a good inch or more. Lastly the auger is not very well balanced so the snowblower shakes quite a bit and I hope the components like the gas tank have strong mounting brackets. Adequate job w/wet & loose snow.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Perfect for sidewalks when you need them very clean

I use @ my business. I had been using a 2-stage snowblower then going behind it with a shovel or broom to get the side walks clean. For safety reasons I need the sidewalks very clean. This thing does it all in one step and it handles more snow and larger drifts then what I had expected to. Wish I had bought a snowblower like this years ago.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Stuck Snow Chute Handle

Bought then returned this item 3 times before I asked for a complete refund. Item has very good power and snow clearing ability. Handle that moves the snow chute locks in place and can not be moved unless you pry the spring up with a screwdrives or some type of instrument. Shame the handle did not work as well as the snow clearing performance of this snow blower!

great product

i am a big craftsman fan. i was torn between a toro and this. the light and joystick really finailzed my decision as well as being a happy craftsman customer in the past. i just bought and put this together. easy to assemble started up on second pull. electric start worked just as quick. i cant wait for the first snowfall. i know it will work great. wish the light had an on and off swith and a plus is that the oil and gas are seperate so you dont stink like fumes in my opinion.

Overall
Buying this snowblower kept it from snowing!

Thought we might have a repeat of 2010-2011 winter for 2011-2012. Didn't want to deal with pulling and pulling to get the old 2cycle blower to run so replaced it with this Electric start unit. GREAT blower. Starts quick and runs great. But as they say, wash the car and it rains, buy a snow blower and it doesn't snow! Best investment made to stop old man winter. Saved on gas as well because by spring still had the same tank of gas I started with. 4cycle engine runs smooth and on the one day that did snow, although not enough for the blower, was able to test the power by piling up the snow in one direction. Then on the last pass of the driveway it was fairly high enough to see how the blower takes a load and it tour right through the pile up with no problems. Special note though, the manual states to spray silicone spray in the shoot to help prevent clogging. Good rule to follow because it works. There was no clogging of the shoot, from the heavy wet snow, after I sprayed it . Thank you Sears and Craftsman for another great product.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

CHUTE CONTROL SUCKS.

model 88782.chute control sucks. frozen into position. when i called sears the warranty says two years. they said that since it was beyond 14 days that they would not exchange. over and over I am seeing the phrase design flaw. i also see that sears has discontinued this model of course immediately after we purchase it. SEARS NEVER AGAIN.!!!!!!!!

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Wife purchased this snow thrower for me as a Christmas gift. Worked well the first time. Second use, it broker (discharge chute control broke), now the discharge chute is stuck in one position, making the entire machine useless (cannot change direction of discharge). VERY VERY UPSET. I have only had this product for 3 weeks. Spoke with friends who returned a snow thrower to Sears for repair and it was more than 3 months before they got the machine back. I am a busy person, I don't have time to play games with a service department. Will probably throw the machine in the garbage (set it at the curb). I'd lose more money by being jerked around by the service department.

Will advise my clients to not buy at Sears.
