This Craftsman blade is unlike the standard blades you can get. It is made with heavy gauge steel and made in the U.S.A. I noticed after the first use there was less lawn clippings and leaves on the ground with only one pass. This blade is the only blade I will ever use again during the summer then in the fall I put on the Craftsman 21'' Advanced Dethatching and Bagging Blade sears item number 07133054000 both well worth there price.
Our local sears didn't have the original part number (159267) but had this replacement advanced mulching & bagging blade. I have used it multiple times with the same effect, it leaves clumps of grass resulting in a second mowing required each time to clean the yard up. I mow the lawn weekly so this is not due to the grass length. Very dissatisfied and trying to find a location with the original part number in stock to replace this "advanced" blade.

I must say that the design of this blade is better than anything else on the market. Don't believe the negative reviews you read about this design. All those reviews complaining about the this blade leaving clumps of grass on their lawn are probably mowing when the grass is wet. You just need to be aware that this blade cuts and mulches differently than a conventional mulching or bagging blade and it will leave a mess if you try to mow tall grass when it is wet. This is only a problem usually with side discharging and during your lawn?s high growth season. For example, you didn?t have time to mow your lawn last week so you need to cut 4 or more inches off. And this week the only time you can mow is early in the morning when there is a heavy dew or it?s been raining all day. When you mow, some of the clippings get left on top of the lawn because of the excessive amount you are trying to cut and because it's so wet. The next day when they dry it looks like Fluff or cotton balls all over your yard. There are two things you can do to fix this or keep it from happening. First, if you have to mow when the lawn is long and wet, SLOW DOWN! Mow at half the speed you normally mow at. This will give the blades more time to chew up the clippings. If you are side-discharging, overlap your path so you are cutting the clippings twice. Second, after the lawn has dried and you have this ?fluff? all over your yard, don?t feel you have to rake it all up, just go back and mow it again. The fluff will disappear. NOTE: Best if you first sand or file off the heavy paint on the sharpened blade edge. The three upward-twisted portions on each end of the blade are NOT blades and do not need sharpening. The blade was designed this way to improve mulching by throwing the clippings upward under the deck so they would fall down to be cut additional times by the cutting edge.
Wasn't sure if it would be worth the extra money over a regular blade, but it did a great job cutting the grass right out of the package. Installation was easy. The blade is stamped "this side toward grass" so that it's easy to make sure it's installed properly.

I had hit a hidden rock and bent my blade. I went to my local Sears and the only blade they had was this one, and it was half off. I installed it and started the mower. Within a few minutes I had to shut it down. It was not cutting well and grossly unbalanced. I should have taken it back, but with no blades available, I had to deal with it. I sharpened and re-balanced it. The other issue is that every now and than the mower would "drop" a large amount of grass that had been pushed up into the mower.
If you look at the cutting edge of the blade, it is not sharpened at the curve/twist. Since it is only sharp on the outside 5" of the blade, it doesn't cut very well. It left lots of uncut blades. I will try to return it to Sears.
