Started on very fist pull
My last Craftsman mower lasted for years until I bent the shaft. I decided to just get a new one rather than pay a lot of money to get an old mower working again. This new mower was easy to "assemble" out of the box - just unscrew, pull handles all the way out and screw again. Adding oil was a bit annoying - awkward location for filler. Use a funnel. But, honestly, how often do people actually change the oil in a mower. :-) I filled up the gas tank, then gave it one relatively gentle pull after priming. It started right up and chopped up some overgrown stuff leaving no visible debris.

Think before buying
This product is not "Senior user-friendly". A major disadvantage is the placement of the oil fill tube. It is located behind the muffler under the blower housing, in the engine block and above the mower deck. The oil full tube cap and dipstick are difficult to remove with very limited "finger" space. I would not recommend this mower for seniors and/or others who have problems stooping/bending over.

Great Mower

Mower was easy to put together, always starts on the first pull. Love the wheel adjustments on one side, nice even cut. My only issue is where they put the oil filler tube, who ever designed the mower has never pull oil in a mower.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Really like

I really like this mower. Easy to crank and eash to push through very thick grass. The only thing that I am not very fond of is that when using the side discharge, the piece doesn't hold on very tight; you have to put it back. Otherwise great lawn mower.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Good value

Mower works great, one little issue, It was missing a bolt that holds the handle in place. Had to find one in the garage to make it work as I didn't want to drive back to the store.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
mower oil fill is inconvenient

I returned this mower for a better model - when I got it home I assembled it and then started to add oil - only to find out the fill is under the housing and cannot be accessed without additional equipment. Why they put the fill in that position is crazy.

Overall
Cheaply made but capable and lightweight

As a kid in the 70's who would mow neighbors' lawns for $5-$8, I put in a lot of hours using the cheapest mower imaginable. For the family mower my Dad would buy the no-options model and use it until the deck rusted out and the wheels fell off. it had inconvenient side bagging, no height quick-adjusters (seriously- you would need to unbolt each wheel and re-bolt it into another hole (!)), etc., etc....... by comparison this Sears budget mower would have been impressive to me, with its rear bag and height adjusters that employ a single lever for the front pair of wheels, and likewise for the rear. If you like things spartan, you'll love this mover. Everything about it screams "cheap"; cheesy plastic wheels with a thin hard rubber outer coating. Spindly tubing for the push-handle, Dinky, noisy engine. But wait! Maybe cheap is a good thing. The primer button is big and soft, the engine starts right up, the rear bag is nice and the chute isn't prone to clogging, and the lightweight chassis is easy to push. There's a certain unpretentious honesty in its simplicity, its old-school form and function. I am mower, hear me roar! Comes complete with bottle of oil. Just assemble the bag onto its armature, unscrew the hard-to-reach, low-quality plastic fill cap, use a flex funnel (sold separately!) to fill the crankcase with oil, add gas, and you're in business. Just like the good/bad old days!

I would recommend this product to a friend.
