The Craftsman 21 in. Push Mower has an innovative deck design that extends beyond the wheels for more precise trimming and starting. I was worried based on the first review but my mower works great. I have both bagged and mulched grass with it. It is easy to start and runs great. I have only used it a few times but so far it has done great.

I'm not sure what the issue is with the other guy's mower but this one starts for me with 1 pull every time - regardless of when I let the motor stop. He might need a service or warranty repair. Don't let that one review disuade you if you're considering this one. So far I'm very happy with this mower. Bought a new house last fall and didn't even have a mower come spring. Did some research and decided on this one. Don't care for the bagging but might use it some day. It literally does start on the first pull every time I've used it (or stopped to do something and started again). It does seem to bog down every now and then and I'm not sure if it is an issue with the grass thickness or the mower bouncing around. I've tried cutting at different heights and still see the issue. It doesn't cut off or anything but it's like it coughs once or something and keeps going. It doesn't seem to affect the cut that I've noticed though. Would still recommend.

This Kohler engine starts easy and has tons of power. OHV sips half the gas my old mower did with more torque to cut through thick wet grass. The domed deck mulches well, no big clumps to rake up. High-impact resin front and rear on the deck means no rust where the wheels connect and it has solid axles all the way across!

Consumer Reports rated as "********" Great strong motor, cut my thick Zoysia grass on height setting of 2 with no bogging down. Excellent job of mulching and side discharge. Easy to handle, SUPER easy to start. I stopped multiple times to adjust height or take of discharge guard and NEVER had a problem restarting. Premium OHV engine which is more efficient even though it's a smaller cc engine. Lots of torque, great mower!

I talk to my ex farmer young brother before shopping for a new lawn mower. This machine is amazing, it start with a half a pull and runs like a charm. I shopped the big box retailers before purchasing at Sears. The engine on this machine is highly recommend by my brother and consumer reports. There is a difference and worth the little extra money. I never have had a problem restarting the mower after stopping. Half a pull and it goes....

because there is no prime or choke, this is impossible to keep running. every time i have to stop to empty the bag, i need to let the mower sit for at least a half hour before it will start again. this might be expected from an older mower. but i've had this less than 6 months. it will be the last time i buy craftsman. :(
