AWD IS THE WAY TO GO!
I tried this mower out an WHOA IF you got a less then IDEAL yard, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO! As far as the mower goes, the drive wheels will last forever! , But the power from this mower needs to be looked at. it could do with just 1 MORE HP, Maybe a tune up for some more power. Most users will not have issue with it. The issue I have is that some parts are still cheap, and really in this price range, it is kind of hard to beat for the features, but at least you will not get your "Family Jewels" caught up in the handles. (Look at the other buyer choice mower and you will see what I am talking about. The mower is still kind of hard to push around, and wish the wheels would Pivot more or use floating wheels. Maybe like the round ones used on the Audi from Minority report. The mower is not as quiet as I would like, and I wish they exhaust would vent to under the deck. The deck is also still kind of louder then I like, but hey, not that bad. This is a heavy mower, and still is best for large flat land. Also wish they would use Straight Ethanol so less fumes from the exhaust. The mower is still cumbersome, and the bag fills kind of fast. It still clogs more then usual for me, The Handle needs more cushion, but nothing your Cycle shop can't fix. I think this mower is just short of Best one out there. And the stock blade is ok. Plan on buying a spare. ALSO CHANGE THE OIL ASAP. Actually, I would use some Air cooled break in oil for the first run in and break in the mower. IT NEEDS IT> Also, If you want the mower to last a long time, you are going to have to change the oil OFTEN! It gets dirty fast. The cables all need OIL. SOAK THE HECK OUT OF THEM, otherwise, they get hard to move after the first season. I took off all my cables and soaked the whole things in motor oil, with my other lawnmower and no problems so far. Also , watch out for the battery terminal will corrode if not sealed or lubed. The handle needs some Rubber kind of rubber floater, and needs to feel more like a Craftsman wrench. It "steel" feels kind of flimsy. The filter needs to be a bit bigger, It gets clogged kind of fast. And as a WISH, I get home late, and have to mow in low light allot, wish they would strap on some lights to the thing. THAT would be EPIC! I did that with my other one. Runs of the stock 12V battery. Used some car LED lights. Works great. to see those things HIDDEN under the grass like toys etc. The stock stater electric cables are kind of small, and could be upgraded. (I use a relay on mine, WAY BETTER STARTER ENGAGEMENT!) Overall a great mower, but the emptying of the bag is still kind of hard to do. Wish they would find a way to make taking off the mower easier, but these are like Nags, not real issues. And IMO, add some plastic curb stuff to the sides, and it works great to suck up grass off the sidewalk

      Power?
Bought two of them, took the first one back after a couple of hours, thought it was broken and the second is going back today. It is very quiet however. After starting it seems to run at maybe a fast idle and never any faster. While cutting the grass when mowing a bit thicker area it would fall flat on it's face. Asked a couple of neighbors to give it a try and they came to the same conclusion. My lawn has just started growing for the season and will get much thicker. Also the levers for the drive engagement are VERY hard to pull back and hold in place. If you are doing forearm exercises you will be fine. It did not pick up leaves after running over them a number of times and after cutting maybe 400 to 500 feet of lawn there was a couple of handfuls of clippings in the bag, the rest was stuck in the back of the mower. I was not trying to cutoff too much grass at one time by any means, I have mowed lawns for over 50 years and know exactly what I am doing. I do not think it even has the power to throw the grass in the bag. The bag hardly evens inflates while empty with the mower running. Runs and feels like it is about 1 hp. Very disappointed with the mower but especially the performance. My last couple of mowers were all Craftsman and I headed straight there when needing another however I was told this is the "Top of the Line" so not many options at Sears.

Very close to the ideal mower

I have hills so all wheel drive is important and I am grateful things are moving in the right direction. If they would put a more powerful Honda engine on it with serious tires, bingo!

Great mower, but bad turning ability

I would have rated this a 5 if it didn't take a lot of effort to turn in corners. I have a hilly back yard with St. Augustine grass and the AWD plows through it without a problem. It goes up hills smoothly. It is very quiet and uses a lot less gas than my older mower. I would recommend it to my friends.

      DO NOT BUY

I purchased this lawn mower for my husband for an anniversary present. He used it two times and then third time he tried to use it the engine blew on it when he pushed the electric start button.

      Not impressed

I have had several craftman mowers over the years, and this one is "meh". To be clear, it the Briggs and Stratton engine that is disappointing. lower power and poor design of the governor spring. It's very susceptible to objects (bushes, leaves) getting up into it and bending/stretching it. I have the same lawn, but none of my previous mowers had this issue. It's hard to get the part to fix it, becauseyou cannot get it from sears and B&S takes forever to get it for you. They must be be selling a lot of these replacement parts. I may yet return this thing if my trial period isn't over. It is quiet, though. I'll give it that. It mulches as well as any other craftman mower i've owned.

      Craftsman fails again

Poorly built mower. The adjustable handle broke during the first use. I have since replaced this piece of junk with a Honda - Great choice!

      Quiet Power is right!

For a lawn mower, this is a pretty quiet one. And it's so powerful, that I almost have to run with it. I do need to adjust it down though. I got an all-wheel drive because I have a decent sized hill in my back yard and this lawn mower goes up it with no problem. I used to have to push my old front wheel drive mower up the hill and that wasn't any good because I have a bad shoulder and elbow. And even though I have an electric starter, I haven't charged it yet to use it but to pull start it isn't a problem as it starts quite easily with only a pull or two. I'm glad because I'm a petite female with joint problems. The down side of the mower is that it is hard to turn and that does bother my shoulder a lot. But all in all, I'm very happy with my purchase.

      Crappy mower

Buy a honda. I took this back as the handle broke after the first use. Also clunky and not very well made. Do not buy sears.

      I must be a fool

Used this mower twice and on the second time the ez walk broke, called and was told it could be fixed in Clifton Park, brought it there, they said they don't make repairs to bring it to Queensbury called and they don't make repairs.Returned to Saratoga and was given another new mower, after charging 28 hrs.this one didn't start with electric or pull start. Returned it and bought a different model with a lot less features.I wasn't able to use discount coupon and didn't get 5% discount when I used my sears charge card?Because they consider it a return and not a online purchase which the original one was.Almost paid as much for this mower as the best mower sears has to offer. It does cut grass but seems cheaply made when compared to the original.I was so frustrated after driving around, and calling on the phone I settled for what the sales rep.suggested,a poor choice.
