AWD IS THE WAY TO GO!
I tried this mower out an WHOA IF you got a less then IDEAL yard, THIS IS THE WAY TO GO! As far as the mower goes, the drive wheels will last forever! , But the power from this mower needs to be looked at. it could do with just 1 MORE HP, Maybe a tune up for some more power. Most users will not have issue with it. The issue I have is that some parts are still cheap, and really in this price range, it is kind of hard to beat for the features, but at least you will not get your "Family Jewels" caught up in the handles. (Look at the other buyer choice mower and you will see what I am talking about. The mower is still kind of hard to push around, and wish the wheels would Pivot more or use floating wheels. Maybe like the round ones used on the Audi from Minority report. The mower is not as quiet as I would like, and I wish they exhaust would vent to under the deck. The deck is also still kind of louder then I like, but hey, not that bad. This is a heavy mower, and still is best for large flat land. Also wish they would use Straight Ethanol so less fumes from the exhaust. The mower is still cumbersome, and the bag fills kind of fast. It still clogs more then usual for me, The Handle needs more cushion, but nothing your Cycle shop can't fix. I think this mower is just short of Best one out there. And the stock blade is ok. Plan on buying a spare. ALSO CHANGE THE OIL ASAP. Actually, I would use some Air cooled break in oil for the first run in and break in the mower. IT NEEDS IT> Also, If you want the mower to last a long time, you are going to have to change the oil OFTEN! It gets dirty fast. The cables all need OIL. SOAK THE HECK OUT OF THEM, otherwise, they get hard to move after the first season. I took off all my cables and soaked the whole things in motor oil, with my other lawnmower and no problems so far. Also , watch out for the battery terminal will corrode if not sealed or lubed. The handle needs some Rubber kind of rubber floater, and needs to feel more like a Craftsman wrench. It "steel" feels kind of flimsy. The filter needs to be a bit bigger, It gets clogged kind of fast. And as a WISH, I get home late, and have to mow in low light allot, wish they would strap on some lights to the thing. THAT would be EPIC! I did that with my other one. Runs of the stock 12V battery. Used some car LED lights. Works great. to see those things HIDDEN under the grass like toys etc. The stock stater electric cables are kind of small, and could be upgraded. (I use a relay on mine, WAY BETTER STARTER ENGAGEMENT!) Overall a great mower, but the emptying of the bag is still kind of hard to do. Wish they would find a way to make taking off the mower easier, but these are like Nags, not real issues. And IMO, add some plastic curb stuff to the sides, and it works great to suck up grass off the sidewalk

Power?
Bought two of them, took the first one back after a couple of hours, thought it was broken and the second is going back today. It is very quiet however. After starting it seems to run at maybe a fast idle and never any faster. While cutting the grass when mowing a bit thicker area it would fall flat on it's face. Asked a couple of neighbors to give it a try and they came to the same conclusion. My lawn has just started growing for the season and will get much thicker. Also the levers for the drive engagement are VERY hard to pull back and hold in place. If you are doing forearm exercises you will be fine. It did not pick up leaves after running over them a number of times and after cutting maybe 400 to 500 feet of lawn there was a couple of handfuls of clippings in the bag, the rest was stuck in the back of the mower. I was not trying to cutoff too much grass at one time by any means, I have mowed lawns for over 50 years and know exactly what I am doing. I do not think it even has the power to throw the grass in the bag. The bag hardly evens inflates while empty with the mower running. Runs and feels like it is about 1 hp. Very disappointed with the mower but especially the performance. My last couple of mowers were all Craftsman and I headed straight there when needing another however I was told this is the "Top of the Line" so not many options at Sears.

Really quiet

Just bought this so not sure about how durable but it is quieter than other mowers. Love the push button start, which as we get older seems much more important. Service at the local store was EXCELLENT.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
great lawnmower

We bought this after our ********** died just as our grass reached savannah height. The lawnmower does a great job cutting the grass and the only reason I docked it 1 star is that it is incredibly difficult to turn around. when I mow the lawn I go around in decreasing squares so I don't have to turn around. Other than that it's a great lawnmower. It moves fast as well (my 19 year old who has a longer stride than I do doesn't agree) but for me it was great.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Mower

Mower was well packed, put oil and gas in it, charged battery, started mowing. So far is well built, plenty of power on my hilly lawn and steep ditches. It is quieter than my older John Deer.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

mower

Very nice mower it has many features electric start ,mulching and all wheel drive as well as a port to hook up a hose to clean it out. It was a snap right out of the box but you had to charge for 24 hours before initial use, One downside is it doesn't have adjustable speed so you get some hand fatigue adjusting the lever so it matches your walk pace but it is very quiet. Its worth the money.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
wow what a difference

I bought this mower a week ago to replace our old Troy-Bilt self-propelled mower and have mowed with it twice - once the day after getting it home and again today. We have not been disappointed! I took a little getting used to the throttle (used to the old lever with position 1-2-3), but we were prepared for that after seeing reviews on mowers with this type of throttle. Our lot is long and narrow with a steep hill. When we mowed with this mower a week ago, it was the first time we'd mowed this season, so the grass was very long, and this mower went through it like a dream. Today after my daughter mowed, she commented on how much better it is mowing with this new mower - plenty of power/torque, the mulching blade did a fantastic job of mulching both last week and today - and she was able to mow in less time because of how well this mower did. FYI - when we picked up our mower, the box wouldn't fit in our trunk so the gentleman who helped us as customer pick-up took the mower out of the box and loaded it in that way. However, good thing that we knew already from the reviews about the "spare" blade, because it was still in the bottom of the box and we had to ask where it was. Also, according to the manual/instructions that came with our mower - it does state in there that the mower comes with the additional bagging blade and the blade that comes already installed on the mower is the mulching blade. Overall, VERY pleased with this mower (and it's a lot quieter than other gas-powered engines, and a lot less vibration too, which is less tiring on the hands). The only thing I would maybe change would be going back to the old 1-2-3 style throttle (which I did see on another more expensive brand of mower at another store), but we've been able to adapt to the throttle on this one as well.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Product - Believe the Hype!

This newly designed lawnmower is outstanding. Craftsman should be commended on this one. Easy set up. The fold down handle is extremely convenient for transport & storage. It isn't as heavy as other Craftsman mowers and also has good-great AWD power to help you mow uphill if necessary. It's now the quietest piece of lawn equipment that I own. Haven't tried the electric starter yet (still charging the battery for 24 hrs.), but Briggs & Stratton's claim of it starting up on 1-2 rope pulls is totally accurate. Very satisfied with this product so far.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Neat innovations and options but...

I have to say I love Craftsman. Usually their products are amazing but depressingly not this time. I should have listened to my inner voice telling me to not purchase the brand new 2014 model. Let's start with the good stuff: The engine has enough power and is quite a bit quieter than my last craftsman lawnmower. The lawnmower does give a terrific and level cut. The engine starts with the first pull of the starter cord. If you aren't able to pull the cord the electric start does the trick but remember you have to charge it for 24 hours prior to the first use otherwise you might not get the full life out of the battery. My yard is ridiculously hilly and the all wheel drive does a great job of handling it when it is engaged. This model comes with everything you need and can be assembled in minutes and ready to go (but remember to charge the battery prior to the first use). There is a nice option for easy handle adjustment and quick ability to easily store the lawn mower so it takes up less space. Now the bad: Engineers tend to miss stuff that us in the real world know. For example, the easy adjust handle continuously disengages from the left side when you push down on the handle to raise the front wheels to maneuver or turn the mower. This means that you are left with one handle being firmly attached to the mower and the other one is moving around. This requires you to constantly stop, turn off the mower, use the "nifty" handle adjuster to set the handles then re-start the mower. I remedied this by using a strong clamp to hold the left side in place. The electric start cords flop and fall all around catching any bushes that you pass by. I tried zip tying them to the handle but there is just too much cord. The all wheel drive is a great idea but it doesn't disengage fully when you release the lever, this means that you are pushing not only the mower but also the powerless all wheel drive making it a real pain in the you know what. So i found that you just have to always use the all wheel drive. Which the control levers are very tough to hold continuously depressed to use the drive mechanism... oh, and the fact they say it is varying speeds is a joke. So overall if you aren't able to pull start a mower and have a relatively flat yard with no bushes or shrubbery that doesn't require you to have to pivot multiple times this is the mower for you.
