A Good Lawnmower for the Price
I'm am engineer and typically keep my lawnmowers for twenty years. I waited until I had an issue with the lawnmower to post this review. My hope is that the Sears engineers reading this review will address the problem areas. The good: 1) Easy to setup. 2) The US made 190cc Briggs & Stratton Platinum series engine starts without priming with one pull. It is the easiest to start lawnmower that I've ever owned. Properly cared for, the engine should have a long life. 3) Unique bag removal system works well. 4) The all wheel drive provides better control than a front or rear wheel drive on wet grass and on hills. The bad: 1) Not a big deal, but the lawnmower uses more gas than a Sears Honda powered lawnmower. 2) As mentioned by another reviewer, there is a leak at the top of the bag that allows small particles to blow up toward the operator rather than into the bag. This could be easily fixed with a foam strip. Sears engineers should address this issue. 3) After approximately five uses, the all wheel drive failed for no apparent reason. It was quicker for me to fix the lawnmower than take it into Sears to have fixed. The repair required the removal of the blade, and two plastic parts that cover the drive belt, as the belt had come off the rear pulley. There is a single serpentine belt that connects the front and rear pulleys to the engine pulley. The loose tolerance of the belt guide surrounding the rear pulley allowed the belt top come loose. Many of the parts in the drive system are made of plastic. I suspect that the all wheel drive system will be a source of continuous problems because of the plastic parts. Sears engineers could correct these problems with a few dollars spent on higher quality parts.

Not a good purchase at all
Bought mower because of several of the features. Tried it out for 10 minutes on my yard so it would be ready for mowing season. Had 2 major problems: 1.) The bag does not contain the thatch that was blowing into it. It blows right through the bag 2.) The seal around where the bag attaches to the mower is not flush. The end result of these two items is that it blows dust, dirt, and mulch all over you and up in the air. I thought I had done something wrong. I had not. I have been coughing up thatch, dirt, and dust for about 3 hours now and have went through half a bottle of visine. I mow several yards every year so I am used to getting a little dirty but this goes beyond that. I guess I could mow with a ski mask and googles on but that might get old in August when it is 100 degrees out. Does Craftsman even try out the mowers before they start to sell them? I took the mower back and they refunded my money and were very cool about it.

      This lawnmower is a BEAST!!

This is the best lawnmower I have ever owned!! Lots of power and torque to mulch or bag. And climbs hills or terrain with ease. Starts on the 1st pull every time. The handle is perfect for comfortable grip and has adjustable heights also. It only starts to leak grass clippings when bag is full. It only took me about 15 minutes to remove mower from box and assemble. I shopped around and read several reviews and I am certain I made the right purchase. One review stated the mower does not pull backwards, but that is not true. You have to release the AWD handle let roll forward slightly and it disengages. I would choose this lawnmower again without hesitation. I'm nearly 50 years old and this mower made mowing very easy. It's an awesome mower!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

      All Bark and no Bite

After some research I selected this mower. I liked that it was 4wd, 190cc and it looked rugged. I only got two out of three. As many others stated these have a "hot start" issue. It will not start when hot, has to cool back down. The engine gets so hot smoke rolls out when you pull the cord. I returned, the mgr. gave me a 20 min. fight over the return. She said they have been selling this model for two years w/out trouble. I pointed out to her that it says "NEW FOR 2015" in the online listing. She also said she would have to send it off to be checked or I could pay a restocking fee. I stool by ground and told her to read the reviews, she did read them and then said she would give me another one or a different mower. I wanted my $$ back so I said no again. She finally relented. The mower should be called the "Plastic Series" instead of platinum. The controls and the like are all cheap plastic. It has a real junk like feel to it. Worst mower ever. The 10yr old Craftsman it replaced cut circles around it.

10-15 minute cool down before restarting

After using this 5 or 6 times before with little problems, now I can't mow my back yard in less than an hour using a bag. The motor needs to cool down before I could restart it so my only other option is to go bag less and try not to shut down. I'm frustrated that I bought this $400 law mower and it's still difficult to mow my lawn. I shoulda bought something electric.

      So far so good!

I turned it over first time with no issues. The test will come once I use it through the summer. Hopefully I will have no issues

Not really designed for only trim work

Powerful and fast. Does not work well where repeated reverse movements are required. Great straight line mower.

      Bad Mower with bad service

Has a hot start problem. After you mow and stop the empty the bag, it won't start again. You have to wait about an hour. The AWD is badly designed. It goes forward fine but doesn't corner well and pulling it backwards is a nightmare. The manager at my local store said, "they roll back a little" a little meaning they still made large ruts in my lawn from dragging it. Store charged 15% restocking fee because I had it over a month. Used it twice. Wasn't mowing season when I bought it. Be aware. Very bad mower and very bad service.

      22" All-Wheel Drive Lawn

Well it was easy to start first pull and it ran great. I ran it around the garage back and forth. It really takes off and I should not have any problems till next summer.

      Poor Construction

Used the mower only 5 minutes and the weld for the gas line/handle broke. The bagger is poorly designed. Keeps falling off due to the pins sit loosely in the cradle and the spring loaded flap isn't strong enough to hold it in place. Returning it for a full refund!!!
