220pc Mechanics Tool Set
Too many small bits and pieces, needs more wrenches and bigger sockets for the 1/2" dr ratchet. Other than that it is a great starter kit and of course great quality with lifetime warranty. I would recommend the 192 piece for a better variety of sockets and wrenches. I returned the 220 and got the 192 pc.

I was saddened.
I was very saddened to see that the forging of Craftsman tools has been moved to China. I compared the 12-point sockets to a Craftsman set that I have had for a few years, and I saw that the Chinese made items were inconsistent in shape, and they have already rounded off a couple nuts. Mind you, this is an apples-to-apples comparison. The ratchets don't work as smoothly, and although I haven't taken one apart, I am going to guess they have fewer teeth, because you need a longer swing to advance the nut. Not helpful. Along the same theme, we also purchased two sets of combination wrenches on this trip. The SAE were American made, the metric were Chinese. The Chinese forged wrenches have considerably larger heads, and aren't going to fit easily in certain applications where space is tight. They, too, are a huge disappointment. We purchased these tools for my wife to use in her new job. I regret the purchase, but she needed them the next day. We will not be buying any Craftsman hand tools from this point forward, and I have begun to acquire gently used tools of reliable manufacture to replace our recent purchase, and as I do replace them, I'm going to dump the new ones on craigslist. Nice job, Sears. You have exported jobs, brought in inferior product, and alienated a customer of nearly 40 years.

Mechanic Tool Set

I was looking for a set of tools that had a variety of items. I wanted to be able to throw it in my vehicles when I was traveling. This fit the bill and it is Craftsman quality. It has plenty of tools to be able to do quick repairs and comes in a handy storage case. Great as a beginner set of tools or for traveling.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Value

I am restoring a 69 GMC, and constantly need tools I can grab and bring to the scrap yard etc. If you are going to complain about these being made in China, look at the price, try to buy all these tools from Snap-On or Mac for this. Ratchets are decent quality, and honestly it is my go to box when I know I don't need anything over 3/4" . I have used these tools to hang exhaust, rebuild the top end of a motor, and pretty much any other automotive related task. They are mostly 12pt sockets, so you can round nuts if they are severely rusted in place, but that would likely happen with any 12pt socket. I gave this 5 stars because for the price of $89.00 on sale, this can not be beat, especially with the lifetime warranty. My only "complaint" would be lack of deep well 1/2" drive sockets, but again, it is a low cost set, so this is easily excused.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Awesome kit for the house.

Great for anything you can do around the house but only 4/5 stars as this is advertised as a mechanics too set. Need larger sockets for that and wrenches. But the case is very convenient and keeps things organized and together!

Great set of tools

It's a good set of tools, with most everything needed. Could use spark plug sockets, but already had those laying around so wasn't a deal breaker for me. Purchased at an excellent price and comes with a lifetime guarantee.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good set, missing a few things though

Recently I had all my tools stolen and thrown unhappily back into the tool buying market. As a long time owner (20 years) of many craftsman tool sets, I feel like I have great experience knowing what a quality craftsman tool feels like. I had a 3/8th ratchet that happened to be left behind in the theft, so I was able to compare side by side. There is no real noticeable difference that I can tell between the old ratchet (USA) and the new ratchet (China). They seem to work all about the same, and still has the same great warranty. This set is missing a few things though that every set should come with, no spark plug sockets and lacks extensions. Besides that, seems like a decent set. The tools do stay in place even with plenty of rattling of the case. Disclosure: writing this review makes me eligible for reward points.
