Craftsman 42 in. Turn Tight® Fast Riding Mower A Machine For All Seasons
Whether you're wading through the weeds after the spring rains or clearing the driveway after a winter storm, the Craftsman 42 in. 22 HP Turn Tight® fast riding lawn mower has the power to make quick work of the job. It also has the finesse to make tidy work—with a 6 in. turning radius, this machine will squeeze around trees and fences where many riding lawn mowers just don't fit. The generous 42 in. blade means fewer laps around the yard. An adjustable deck can raise up to four inches off the ground, letting it chew through heavy growth. Its top speed of 7.5 mph, plus its automatic transmission, makes it a dream to operate on rolling expanses or up or down hills.
The Craftsman 42 in. Turn Tight® fast riding mower has a 4-cycle Briggs & Stratton™ engine that runs on gasoline only - no messing with oil mixing. Its frame and front axle are built of stamped steel and cast iron that are durable enough to last and sturdy enough to handle attachments ranging from a lawn roller in the summer to a snow blower or thrower in the winter.

This is an OK rider. Plenty of power tight turns are great. Third time out steering messed up and steering wheel was 90deg off, trans seems to bog or slip going up small hills, hood and sides fit real loose and bounce around. I put extra pads where hood contacts body to help that. "Go" Pedal height is a bit high to use comfortably all the time. Found out we aren't big fans of the automatic trans.
Tractor is new so I can't address reliability. There are a few inconveniences that should have been noticed before manufacture. For one, when the mower is disengaged the lever obscures where the key goes in. The lever moves but because it is spring mounted it has to be moved each time key is inserted or removed. A shorter lever would have been better. I purchased the mulch kit. The cover for the discharge doesn't fit and the pieces that are supposed to hook on to hold the cover in place are too short. I have resorted to using a combination of bungees. The lever for the height adjustment is on the left fender. So far my shirt has caught on it twice when I was getting off the mower. The discharge is on the right side so getting on and off the mower is generally on the left side. Placing the height adjustment on the left side would have prevented a possible injury due to a fall. These aren't big things but good design would have eliminated them. Overall the turn tight is great. And the automatic transmission is rated far better for the sloped lawn that I mow.
This is my first product made by Husqvarna. I have used this mower 1 season. I've had some proplems with the engine cutting out but hopefully that was taken care of by the serviceman the other day. My biggest fault is the gas pedal is to high. I am female and wear a size 10 shoe but for comfort while mowing I've had to resort to wearing an old pair of boots, size 13, of my son's to reach the pedal. Another thing is the grass builds up on the deck very badly. I was stopping to blow it off several times during the mowing. I took a bungee cord and lifted up the chute to help that problem. It also took some time and a set of ruined blades to find a suitable cutting height. I kept digging up rocks even with it set on #5. Other brand mowers I have used the correct setting was 3-4. So far I guess these are the only faults I find with this mower. I like the 2 blade deck so much better than a 3-blade. And I like the power it has.
Picked up this mower brand new in April 2014 and as it was delivered it had problems. The hood pins and washers were gone. No big deal called for parts and 3 days later it was 100%. Starts up great, runs great, cuts awesome but deck height would need adjusting. Now it's October and after 4 months the problems started. The mower started running funny, would not hold a steady rpm, like starving for fuel. Called again for warranty and was put thru the basic questions. They send out repairman and after testing fuel system he decides it's a bad gas cap, fuel pump and filter. Also the battery is dead and won't hold a charge even tho I use a battery tender when in storage. So now I'm waiting again for parts for a brand new mower and I have to buy a new battery. Overall I would say this mower has a nice engine, quiet running but the body and plastic parts are cheap. Plastic push pins to hold on side panels
This is the 3rd mower that I have purchased that was made by Husky. The previous ones were from good to excellent and is why I purchased this one. The sears salesman didn't know what he was talking about. I was lead to believe it had a hyrostatic trans. This model is a T2500 limited edition which I was lead to believe it was better than the standard. Every time I use it, it becomes a chore. All the things you would assume were on is aren't. No front bumper, hour meter, and other little things. The worse is this thing they call a transmission. It won't even mow up my slopes. To mow in reverse you have to hold the lever back. The mower deck is also very poor. Don't think I will ever purchase another mower from Sears or Husky.
I have only had this mower for 3 weeks with a couple of minor issues. Service techs are taking care of them. Love the tight turn and the speed and mows pretty good.
Very durable. I have a large bumpy, hiily lawn and this mower cut it with ease. My old mower a 26 hp sears with Kohler engine and 3 blades always had a problem with the deck clogging up. This 22 hp never had the same problem. ill never have a 3 blade deck again. Reverse is a little slow. Deck could of been built out of heavier gauge steel.
This is my first riding mower and I did a considerable amount of research before deciding on this model. I was concerned at first with how fast this mower moves when driving it around the yard. However, once I engaged the blades, saw how well it cut, and maneuvers (Turn Tight) I felt it performed very well. I later purchased the mulch kit b/c I have used mulch blades in the past with push mowers and prefer the results.
