This is a fine mower. I love the variable speed self propell. The mower has a unique choke system that makes startup a breeze. One can also hook up the garden hose and clean the underside of the mower...cool!

best craftsman lawn mower i bought and have no complaints, some people just complain because thats their nature, the only thing they dont find fault in is them selves.i love this lawn mower and have been told how beautiful my lawn looks now and was asked who cut my lawn since it looks so pro cut,i am 1 satisfied craftsman owner, k.m..

First of all, it's extremely easy to start. It is very quiet (Honda motors are great!) especially compared to others in my neighborhood. It cuts very nice and has plenty of power to drive up my hill. I really like the speed-control feature - my 11 year old can use this with absolutely no problem whatsoever. I saw other complaints about needing strong hands to operate, but my son is on the small side and operates it with ease. Overall I'm completely satisfied.

This mower lifts small debris (pebbles, twigs, etc) and forces it toward the rear bagger port, which is supposed to stay closed, (was using side discharge port) with such force that it partially pushes open the rear discharge, and pushes the debris onto the back of the engine, which riccochets right into your face. Small pebble cut my forehead 1 inch above my eye. This same yard was cut by my old craftsman mower for nine years without any problems with debris blowback. The springs on the rear discharge need to be a lot heavier to keep this port closed when using side discharge or mulcher. Tried to return this UNSAFE mower to sears, but they said they will not accept it back because I already put gas in the mower. How the heck do you know if you have a good mower until you put gas in it. Sears is really going down hill in a lot of areas. Especially quality and customer service. Do not use this mower unless you can afford to lose an eye, then deal with a manager with an attitude.

to operate this type of self propelled lawnmower you need strong hands and I hope your lawn is small. Mine isn't, and I wished I picked a different type of drive. It cuts great, and at top speed it moves faster than any other lawn mower I've had without missing any grass. BUT the spring is strong and it takes a lot to squeeze the drive control.
