Craftsman  22'' Hedge Trimmer

I love sears products and I have 20 years of trimming experience with many different brands... Pros are easy start and tons of power with 22" blade...major defect is the noxious exhaust!!!! I have to wear a mask using it!! I thought at first I mixed the gas wrong but have used this 10+ times and absolutely wreak of gas fumes after every use..thought I was going to pass out using it several times. I wish I had returned it in the beginning but needed it on that day to trim three properties ... I may weld a longer exhaust pipe on it or sell it. Unfortunatly other brands like echo are 2xs the cost. I suggest to anyone using it to wear a heavy noxious fumes mask.

I had a trimmer that had 1/2" capacity with a 19 cc engine, gave it to my friend. This thing is a beast; it will cut through anything, have to use caution when trimming below the bushes, or the whole bush will fall over

Purchased this trimmer as an upgrade to my ten year older model Craftsman gas trimmer so I could tackle larger branches. The new 22" trimmer can easily cut through anything that will fit into the teeth of the blade with ease and the 22 inches give you a nice reach for those hard to get. That's the good part. On the down side, the exhaust fumes blow right towards the operator especially when reaching up high to trim hedges and tall bushes and is really a real health hazard. I'm surprised OSHA dosent get complaints obout this. Although everything works well onjust about any task, it is a bit heavy after a half hour or so. One other problem I had is that about the fourth time I used it the cutting blade just broke about two inches from the tip and is just dangling there while the rest of the blade is still reciprocating. Does a super job, best hedge trimmer I've used. It is some what heavy, but I can manage.

Handles well. Cuts through at least 1 inch branches.

I think the exhaust fumes need to redirected forward- away from the operator. At times it was impossible to avoid the exhaust fumes. Other than that- it's a fabulous trimmer. Plenty of power to make short work of trimming the shrubs. I recommend it!

Works for me

I searched and researched gas hedge trimmers for a couple of weeks. The Craftsman was the absolute ******** anywhere. There was one brand that I particularly wanted, but the cost was right at twice this one. I have maybe 20 plants that need trimming. This one cranked right up right out of the box on first attempt and cut several bushes like it was nothing in way less time than with the electric I've been using for years. This is a great buy for the quality, easy cranking, cutting, and features. Plus, the 40/1 gas mix was the same as my other yard equipment.

Went through the hedges like butter. Very happy.

Well packed, oil mix included for first gas can.  Product was easy to start, started in just a few pulls and allow us to get our hedge back under control.  Good buy
