I needed clamps. Sears had the clamps. Now I've got the clamps, too.

These clamps are very heavy duty and have great funtionallity. The vise turning handle is great because to gives you the need leverage for easy turning and also small enough diameter to allow for use in tight spaces.

Bought a pair of these to replace some budget store clamps that have been driving me nuts. It's amazing to me how much difference these make! Action is smooth, and they're easy to use. Definately worth the (small) price premium over the cheapo ones!

I was recently building a rotating TV/speaker stand to hold both a 40" flat panel TV and an accessory speaker bar, and needed something to hold the parts together as I was drilling holes and driving screws. A pair of these 24" bar clamps were exactly what I needed - they worked just like they were supposed to, which is what you'd expect from something so basic and simple.
The plastic covering on the clamp didn't mar the surfaces, a nice plus.

As a homeowner you may find that most of your clamp needs are done with a 24 inch or shorter clamp. This bar clamp is also more versatile than a "c" clamp because it can screw down short or be used full length yet takes little space to store. In the garage a lot of my need in the past has been for gluing cabinet drawers, or shoeboxes, or repair of various small items, or in helping me to pull something back into "square". Point is that this length is still easy to use as a "c" clamp might, yet has the length to work opened up so one clamp does many things. This is also true for trade issues needing a clamp. Many times you may work on something with a finish that you don't want to mar so it is nice that you have some rubber ends on your clamp to both protect the finish and so that glue does not hold your clamp when dry. The finish on this set also is made to be corrosion resistant which helps keep everything clean. I have also used two of these hooked together to have a 4 ft clamp if needed. You may just need one but a pair is always more efficient and easier on the funding in these short clamp lengths. If you have a need once, you will again and after purchasing the clamp you may be surprised how much you actually use it. Also don't forget the security uses a clamp can help you achieve while not used in your carpentry repairs as you clamp closed windows, doors or patio exits.

Like most things I get a Sears, these bar clamps are a good value for general home use. You can get really cheap versions at discount stores and they are usable, but personally I would rather pay a little more and get a higher quality item. In this case, the handles are larger and nicely shaped for getting good torque. The release is easy to use and I think they will last me a lifetime based on my occasional home use.
