Dual-Stage Snowblower Makes Clearing Snow Quick and Easy
Put away your old snow shovel and start clearing your driveway and walkways with a Craftsman 24' Snowblower. This easy-to-handle 24 in. tool has a powerful 4-cycle, 208cc OHV engine that easily moves blows snow out of your way in less than half the time it takes to shovel out a driveway the old-fashioned way. The state-of-the-art design includes an easy push button electric starting switch that gets you started immediately, even in the most frigid temperatures-no tedious mixing of gas and oil.
The Dual-Stage Snowblower has an impressive 24 in. clearing width that gets the job done fast, even when you're clearing oversized driveways and large porches and decks. To remove packed snow, sludge and ice, engage the 12 in. serrated steel auger or 12 in. impeller to break up the masses and blow them out of your way. With 8 different speeds, 6 forward and 2 backward, you can easily adjust the thrower to clear light to heavy snowfall all over your property.
- Craftsman 24' Snowblower is equipped with an EZ rotation chute to quickly and easily direct icy deposits anywhere you aim.
- Extra long chute gives better aim and reduces snow blowing back on the operator.
- Large 13 in. x 4 in. X-Trac tires keep the tool steady for extra maneuverability and safety.
- Easy-grip handle is easy to operate while wearing gloves or mittens.
- Plow handles increase control and reduce pressure on legs and lower back.

I have been wanting a snowblower for quite some time and decided on the Sears because of their good reputation and reliability. I was not disappointed, it was the right choice. It was easy to start and easy to use, just the right size for my job. It has six speeds forward and two speeds in reverse, It gives me to choice to select the right speed to use for the job at hand. Very Happy!!!
so easy to put together and to use. Cut through the snow like butter. Sears came through in a pinch when my other snowblower had issues throwing snow.
For the size the unit does very well throws snow out and away as needed. Bought this at the end of season sale for a good price. Previous Craftsman snow blower was 30 years old I hope this one has as many years in it as well which it should as it seems built very well
What: Sears Craftsman 175 cc 2 stage snow thrower. When: bought in 2013 for ~$600 Used: ~ 3 times over two winters. Problems: 1) Can NOT handle more than one inch of snow even when it runs, despite the machine's very impressive size and weight. The engine will struggle and on the verge of dieing, and the machine will sputter fruitlessly. 2) In two years, I had one start problem requiring service at Sears service center (cost me $100), and one flat tire requiring replacement. 3) Sears service personel is really no help. Comments: This is absolutely the worst purchase I even made. It is so bad that I stopped trying to use it. I really admire the Toro single stage machines my neighbors have, their Toro throwers are a lot smaller and lighter but go through any kind of snow that mother nature throws at Chicago. Sears mades a defect product, and they know it. That is a shame!

starts awesome with electric starts but takes a couple tugs by hand to start. overall works better than my old machine. well worth the money
I bought this on sale - my very first snowblower - I was first impressed by the packaging - blower was fully assembled except for a couple bolt ons - It was also full of oil and had been pre-run - well worth the money. I am sure I will have this blower for many years.
Just bought this Blower on April 2015 Used in 3 snow falls and on two occasions the Impeller clogs to a degree that the blower will not function.. The dia of the Impeller that is to throw the snow up the Chute is 2'-3' smaller than the housing and this allows the snow to start caking against the housing eventually greatly restricting the smooth flow of the snow, an reducing the amount of snow reaching the Chute I am greatly disappointed and would not recommend this blower
My single stage Toro died again (it was 19 years old) so I decided to go with the 2-stage 88173, it felt like a safe bet because Consumer's Report really liked it. It works great and eats right through the mountain of snow that the snow plows leave at the end of the driveway. It started on the fist pull (haven't tried the electric start yet). Only complaint: Steering or turning the thing isn't terribly easy. Otherwise, it's really great. Assembly was about 45 minutes, but I really took my time and read the instructions twice before proceeding.
I purchased this last fall, before the snow fell. When I received it I fired it up to be sure that it started and ran properly, and it did. Over the course of the winter it has continued to work perfectly. It has started on the first try (using electric start) every time, has ample power to handle any amount of snow that I have tackled, and has required no adjustments or tinkering of any kind yet. The only time that it failed was when I tried to blow VERY WET slush. In that case it "extruded" the slush out of the chute but did not "blow" it. I did not expect it to be able to blow it but wanted to see the limits of where it would work. It did not stall under these conditions, and did not plug up. So I am VERY satisfied with this machine!
The purchase of a snowblower has been something I have thought about for years. I thought I had it made this year until February. Then the snow started and kept coming. I decided it was time to get the snowblower. I am VERY happy with it. It is well built and runs great. It clears heavy wet slush and powder snow. It makes clearing the drive fun.
