I am a believer
I can not get over how well this saw works. Anything in its way is history, no jerking or grabing. Two examples are a warped tongue, grove 100 year old oak floor. I had to cut the tongue and the nails to remove the warped board. Did not pull or grab, steady straight line . The other is a steel door that had surface mounted hinges and I needed flush mounted, so out comes the saw" zip zip"and I had 3 hinges cut in to a steel door . In closing I am not very good at carpentery or just making things fit. This saw makes things fit quite well. Do'nt leave home without it.

UP IN SMOKE
I was using my saw for the first time to cut up some scrap 3/4" plywood. I was impressed with how well it cut without grabing or binding. With only a few feet of plywood cut my saw went up in smoke. The motor had a melt down. The saw is out of the 1 year warranty. I now have a nice case of parts.

Great Saw, but watch out

I use this saw to cut up pallets for firewood and it works great. However, let me give you a couple of pointers and things to keep in mind. I am on my 3rd tool and mine has not gone up in smoke. The gear box had let go on both of them. You must adhere to the 30-10 rule as this motor will tend to heat up faster than you might think. However, don't just go by the 30 min duty cycle, if the motor begins to get hot then let it cool. If the blades begin to bind let go of the trigger immediately, as the motor will begin to smoke and it will go on you quite fast. I think this is what has happened to those whose tool did go up in smoke. I would not recommend the use of this saw for long cuts like length wise for a 3/4" panel ...... use a circular saw for that one. For those cutting metal, it is a must to use the lube sticks supplied with the saw. I use the lube sticks on occasion anyway while cutting wood. It is important to replace blades when they get dull as this puts more stress on the motor to cut through your material. After reading through all the reviews, I thought it necessary to purchase the replacement agreement both times and I am glad I did. This agreement sold at time of purchase is only $15 - $20 depending on the sale price and they refund your total purchase price less the agreement price. This saw goes on usual sale for $129 and on the bigger sales like Christmas you can get it for $99. I gave this saw a 4 Star rating because this is a delicate saw and as someone has figured out, it is not meant for industrial use well, unless you follow the rules closely. and if you are in the commercial trade, you really don't have time to baby your tool. I still love this saw and going to get another one and again with the 3 year agreement ......... 3 YEARS guys, this is a no brainer. As far as the blade replacements go, for some reason SEARS in their infinite wisdom, has decided not to stock them locally anymore at the store and now the only way to get them is to order them. I have an idea for those whose saw burned up, post on ****, for the parts or just sell the blades if they are still sharp, you should be able to get $20 for them. I always keep an extra set of blades handy and stored in the tool case which comes with the unit. Remember, if the saw gets hot, then give it a rest and it will last much longer for you and if the blades bind, release the trigger right away. Stick to these rules and your saw will last much longer.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Don't damage the blades, or order more from Craftsman

My wife bought this for me as a gift. I'm a tool junkie and have most any tools, for most any trades that a man could ask for - mechanics, wood, metal, stone; building, repairing, etc. This one looked like it would complement my shop. It looked so good at the time that I bought one for a friend for his birthday. He hasn't used his yet so doesn't have any feedback. I've seen reviews that talk about the blade guard - a pixx-poor design if I ever saw one and nearly impossible to deal with; and the motor overheating and not cooling - another oops if there ever was one; and the 'couple of times used and quit' - their bad; and the counter-rotating blades grinding to a halt without lubricating them - and I understand that too. This saw is not well engineered or implemented. But more and worse than that is a total lack of support for it by Sears. The local store has saws for sale BUT NO BLADES! What are they thinking of? Blades are more than $65 from the catalog - HA! It's junk.

Not Good

Good for easy, short, light weight jobs. Cutting thin metal, plastic pipes, etc. is good, no kickback. Cutting cedar wood burned mine up fassssst. Used relatively little. Out of warranty. My loss. I would rate it up there with **************'s Chicago Electric tools. Oops.

Poor WILL NOT Describe This TOOL

You would have to just have $150 extra dollars you are willing to give to the Craftman's cause. This tool did NOT last a full year and without a "proof of purchase" I could not even get it repair. Pityfull excuse for a "Power Tool"!!!!

Stopped working on 3rd use!!

I bought the saw and used it to cut aluminum. On the third use it turned off and would not start again. The metal was thin and easy to cut so there was not a heavy load on the saw.It worked great up until it shut off. The one year warranty was past, so I am sol on the saw. I took it to my local sears, it was a waste of time, all they did was give me an 800 number.

Overall
Great saw Good price,

Many reviews derate this saw because of overheating . It is probably because the saw was run beyond the recommended duty cycle. Which is "30 minutes on,10 minutes off under normal load" or let it cool to ambient (normal) air temprature. See page 12 in the manual. I do not recommend using this saw for prolonged or industrial cutting. It is for the occasional home user. I use it to cut up pallets for firewood, easily cutting stray nails that would make a normal saw dull or dangerous. When I feel too much heat, I just do something else such as stacking or moving the cut pieces to the storage area so no time is lost. Another feature is the large 6-1/8" blade that other twin cut saws don't have.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
