Purchased this tiller at the local Sears store and right from the start did not work, could not get it started. Returned it to the store and they gave me a second tiller. This worked the first time and then on the second occasion it stopped in the middle of a job and have not been able to re-start it. These tillers are inherently DEFECTIVE!
I honestly couldn't be happier with this purchase. It had been returned to the store so I got it at a substantial discount. I will be using it alot in the spring to do my flower beds and in between the rows in our garden.
I bought one of these tillers a couple of years ago for very light gardening duty and it work pretty well until just after the warranty expired (one year). Since I had purchased the optional and expensive dethatching attachment, I took a chance and bought another one of the same model in April 2013. I used it exactly twice and it developed the same problem as the first one. Specifically, it will suddenly stop running and after pulling the start cord until your arm is numb it will breifly re-start, but stall once you try to engage the tines. I'm no amatuer with powered lawn implements, been buying and using them for over 30 years. There is something basically defective with this machine. I took it back to the store in Sept. 2013 for a refund (didn't want to exchange for another of the same piece of junk), but since it was passed the 30 day return window, the only thing that the store manager would offer is to have it serviced under the warranty. This would normally be acceptable, except that I know from owning two of these things that they will get this thing kind of running until after the warranty expires, then I'm screwed again. I'm now engaged in a battle with the regional management to get my money back or store credit. Stay away from this machine. Go to the 4 stroke engine for a little more money or buy a different 2 stroke at another retailer.

I bought this tiller about 10 days ago and used it one time and it would not start again. As recommended, I used 100% gas mixed with 2 cycle oil with ratio 40:1. I would not recommend this to anybody. I have been pleased with all of Craftsman equipment until now.

This is a mini tiller from ****. My son-in-law has had to repair it 3 times and now it won't crank again. I bought the thing in 5/2011 and have used it 3 times. I have always bought my yard and garden equipment from Sears but I definitely regret spending the money on this thing. It is not easy to crank like they try to say it is. The rope breaks a plastic piece inside and then - oh yes it has to be repaired. I definitely don't have money to throw away but I could have just thrown my money out the window for all the good I have gotten from this mini tiller.
