I bought this box because it wasn't the "homeowner" series. I have owned more than one Craftsman box over the last 25 years, all of which had the old drawer slides. This has the ball bearing slides and it seems like the drawers have a ton of side to side play and feel very loose and sloppy. Just doesn't have that old solid feel I am used to with Craftsman. I feel sorry that I am even writing this kind of review. I have been a long time fan of Craftsman boxes. I also notice they are carrying a number of different brands now. It is sad to see the purity of the institution that Sears and Craftsman have been for so long become tainted and compromise their quality. Always thought I could turn to Sears for the kind of quality that would make me glad I bought their products. Sorry to say.....not this time. End of an era???

This box is not very heavy duty. I bought it to store tools that I don't use a lot. The metal is kinda thin and the slides are not very heavy duty comparing to another Craftsman box I have. It is MUCH better than the one I went to ************** to buy and walked out when I saw how junky it was made. This is not a box for someone who will use it continually but I think it is fine for a homeowner who needs tool storage.

This is a very cheap tool chest. The ball bearing slide broke on the bottom drawer. Sears replaced, no questions. My Brother told me to save my money to buy a better one. Thats my advice to you.

The set is very nice - lots of relatively deep storage, which is what I was looking for. They have to be bolted together, but that is okay. It didn't take too much effort.

Great tool chest. The construction quality is good. The drawers are on ball bearing slides. The drawers operate very smoothly. I purchased two of these to go with matching bases. They fit together well. My purchase was 50 % off so I am very pleased with the price. The only negative comment I have is that one drawer slide had become disassembled during shipment. The slide was repairable but with considerable thought and strength on my part. The slide can not be removed entirely because some of it is riveted into the body of the chest. To reassemble it required a piece of wood and a hard hammer blow to force the bearing assembly back together because of the design. It worked so I am happy with my purchase. Otherwise back to the store for another unit.

I bought this as part of a set. The price was good so I figured I didn't need to see it. The construction like most things these days is flimsy sheet metal. The major problem i had with this unit was the lid was welded on crooked. When it was closed it would not sit straight. Took it back and the second one worked out much better. As a set I would expect there to be mounting holes for the other cabinets but I have to drill holes. Living in humid Florida I am going to have to paint the holes so it doesn't rust out in a year. If it is on sale (250) for the whole set it is worth it.
