Great For the Price
this is the second set of these boxes I have purchased. I use the first set everyday in a shop I own and finally got so many tools I had to purchase another box set. I have had nothing but great use out of these boxes and have had no problems. Definately worth the money you spend for this and the other two to make the set.

Cheaply made
This unit is very cheaply made; metal bends and dents easily. Not worthy of a Craftsman name. I would not have purchased this if saw it in person, but it'll do for now to store tools at home.

Mediocre Chest--Budget-Priced, But Has Limitations

I purchased the 2-drawer intermediate chest (model #706.31015) at a Craftsman Club event with an excellent discount.

Even though this has the old-style drawer slides instead of the now-favored ball bearings, I had somewhat higher expectations. Once loaded with tools (not overloaded), the bottom drawer hangs open maybe 1/8th of an inch, & won't close as well as it should. (The top drawer seems to fit okay.) I now see why the chest comes with the standard with the locking bar on the front.

Regarding virtues, this size/style fits well with many Craftsman cabinets/chests for stacking & drawers that are a good depth. The paint & finish seem good too.

Overall, I'd say this is a decent choice for the person starting out with tool storage on a budget, but I'd shy away from using this daily for tools you're apt to access daily. If you need a chest to stash tools with no frills, this will likely suffice. (You'll be wishing for ball bearings though ...) For the tool enthusiasts that are fussy, this probably isn't for them, & the Craftsman name would likely be better served on something with a little better quality.

Returned: drawers didn't stay closed and lock didn't work

I had previously purchased the base unit. And it was great. I bought the two (2) drawer extension unit and had to return it. The drawers didn't stay closed and the locking system didn't work.

great addition with the Craftsman 2 Drawer Homeowner chest

A great addition for any homeowners chest. two good sized drawers in this chest. for the price it is an excelent addition to your tool storage set. deffinately  a good by and very handy. If you don't mind not having ball bearings it is perfect. I have the full set of black homeowner and I love it because when i have to move stuff the drawers don't slide out as easy  but the locking system isn't nearly as easy or handy.

CHEAP CHINESE QUALITY

i bought the drawers because of the price, i needed them and they matched the craftsman roll away i already own. $42.00 was an awesome price (normal retail price is $85.00 - up), however, i didnt take into account that they were'nt the bearing type like what i have. the drawers are sloppy, move around, noisey and non-gliding. first thing i did was lubricate the rails which did no good. overall, chinese. i grew up on craftsman when it was american made. still love craftsman....but so sad

A great value for the price

I was looking for a low cost tool storage containers. I had purchased all 3 components for a great price. I feel I got my money's worth. If you are looking for heavy duty toolboxes that will take a beating this is not for you. If you are looking for a Low Cost, lighter duty storage for your tools this is a great buy.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

works great

I needed some extra storage space in my toolbax, and this did the trick.  The drawers are tall- I have 1/2" sockets standing up using the Hansen socket holders.  Its a little flimsy and could have had thicker walls.  But for $45, it works great.

Poorly made

This product was purchased new.  When I got it home and unboxed it, instead of being rectangular in shape, it looked more like a trapezoid.  I mean, this was as cheaply constructed as you can get.  I wonder what the thought process is for packaging something as flimsy as this.  If it had been packaged better, maybe it would have survided shipping better and I wouldn't have been inclined to return it.  But in the end, Sears did me a favor.  The more I looked at it, the more I wondered why I purchased it in the first place.  Really, REALLY thin walls and terrible slide outs.  I returned it the next day and went to ***** and bought one made by Kobalt.  I spend and additional $400 and got 10 times the tool chest!!
