I have long been a fan of Craftsman tools, but this is the worst I have ever owned. If it isn't sitting perfectly level on a perfectly level floor, the drawers will open by themselves. The cheap plastic latches that are supposed to hold the drawers in arrived pre-broken, and when I replaced them, they broke again almost immediately. At one point when my back was turned, five of the six drawers on the top chest opened and the whole thing launched itself onto the floor, scattering all my tools, and bending several of the drawers. When I complained to Sears they basically ignored me. I'd probably have been much happier with the non ball bearing drawers, and my toolbox wouldn't be mangled now. The new toolboxes have latches on the individual drawers, so they obviously know this is a problem. It would have been nice if they'd offered a retrofit kit. the one star rating is a lie but it wouldn't let me give negative stars.

This chest is great. I have loaded it up with tools and it seems to get quieter the more tools I put in. Great size! I have it on top of a Craftman 5 drawer roller chest and it is just big enough to fit all of my small tools yet small enough so that I can still easily access items on top shelf area with ease. Have not had a problem or complaint yet.

It looks great coming out of the box and seems heavy duty so go with the pricier models cause the other ones I looked at were almost 20 pounds lighter and I'd surmise would be cheaply made. The drawers need to be grasped at both sides and really pulled hard and the same in closing- would need to be forced hard to close. The ball bearing drawers I believe are a must if you have any weighty items in the drawers and they are smooth. I'd recommend the 50 pound per drawer models as any less and you'd be getting into problems with rigidity and strength. I'd buy again but I got much off for the sale price and other incentives and wouldn't buy it at full cost.

I bought this on sale, 60% of list price. The price was as right as it's going to get. The first one was damaged from a hit on the R Rear top corner. It messed up the lid and rear lock bars. Sears replaced it with no question. That was good customer service. The box at this price $143.99 is a value. I can't complain except for the extra trip to exchange. The salesman and the pickup dept. guy were both helpful. All's well that ends well!

Imagine ordering and waiting for a tool chest. It arrives and you drive to the Sears store to pick it up and arrive home expecting something good. Guess what, it's damaged and the lid won't close plus the rear lock bars won't engage leaving the top lid closing only partially and off center. An inspection of the shipping carton indicates damage to one corner, goon platoon handling. Inspect the tool box and locate damage to one top corner which created all the misfitting components. Who wants this? Which is weaker the thinly rolled sheet metal or the shipping caton? Doesn't matter, return the box and do without as the next one would be kicked around and most likely damaged too. Do you want to ride this Sears merry-go round again? Don't buy this stuff unless you want to experience disappointment and frustration. Avoid!

I own two 'entry level' Craftsman top tool chests. One has Quiet Glide drawers and the other is this model with the ball bearings. They both slide smooth and are comparable when the drawers are not really loaded up with my heavier tools & sockets. My quiet glide model is 8+ years old and opens and closes perfectly and is the reason I went with another Craftsman box. If you have a lot of tools or heavy ones the ball bearing model will slide much smoother than the quiet glide model. My biggest problem with this Ball-Bearing model is the need to push & pull the drawers hard get it to initially open or completely close. I have Craftsman's non-slip webbing material (#65522) on all drawers and the force still causes the whole box to shake & tools to slide/move around. It's easier to just not close them all the way. Otherwise the drawers have a smooth travel that is superior to the Quiet Glide. My suggestion is go to a Sears and test the two types of drawers yourself before you buy. Think about what you are putting in it weight wise. If you decide the the quiet glide model would work for you it will save you some money and probably a bit of frustration.

This product looks nice but cheaply made and barely passable for the Home garage. Too much money for such a cheap product. I would have returned it but was too lazy because it is workable for me.
