Craftsman Tool Box
Bought the Quiet Glide for my home workshop after checking out the tool box drawers at Sears, didn't feel the need for ball bearings with this type of drawer it's works perfect for my home shop. Oh yeah, QUALITY AGAIN.

6 drawer top box is OK
Top box is fine for a DIY. For more heavier use purchase one with bearing slides.

Just right for a small workshop

Lots of space. The drawers slide nicely, but sometimes fail to lock when the lid is closed. This is due to one or more drawers not being pushed right back (and I mean RIGHT BACK). The mechanism seems unable to compensate for this - either it's exactly right or it won't work. Only mildly irritating. The arbitrary compartmentalising of the open top tray could be left out, too. I'd remove the dividers myself, but they're spot-welded in place and I'd have to be very careful or end up with holes in the top.

6 Drawer tool box

This is a great box. I bought them duing a recent craftsman days and got both this box and the matching 3 drawer middle box for right at $150.00. Can't beat Sears for great products and prices.

Nice chest

This chest competes with the two ********** Husky 5-drawer 19.5" tall 5-drawer chests w/ball bearings that sell for $120 w/o liners and $140 w/liners and hydraulic struts. I have the latter and now this Sears chest (bought at closeout for $100 - sweet) and other than the lack of shelf liners, this Craftsman chest is at least as good as the Husky chests. This chest lacks ball bearings, but the glides it has are as good as any cheap similar price chests with ball-bearing drawers, including the Husky's.The single top support is OK, but just a little chintzy (come one Sears, how much would a second support cost?). Th 6-drawers of this chest are 1 deep and 5 shallower while the Husky's have 5 deeper drawers. Both work, but I think the 5 deep are just a little more practical. You have to really push to close the drawers on the Huskys while the drawers close, if anything, a little too easilly with this Craftsman chest. A coin toss on this feature. The construction quality of this Craftsman chest is, I would say very good...maybe just a bit better than the two Husky's. None are powder coated...and that would be a nice touch that adds little to cost. Even at $130, the Craftsman competes well with either of the Husky chests...with liners, it would be even better.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Top chest

I purchased this with the set. Paid a great price $104.99. Item is a little tall with the other two parts which may be a con for some but works great for me. Overall great item.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent value for a very low cost tool chest

Bought this as part of a 14 drawer setup with this top, middle section, and a base section. A lot of drawers in a compact arrangement.

Drawers a little smaller front to back than even slightly better quality Sears counterparts. Drawers don't seem to be removable although instruction sheet indicates otherwise. Instruction sheet provided was for another model.

Drawers work smooth but don't have the ruggedness of more expensive lower cost cabinets (like ball bearing drawer models). But seems fine for home use.

Using all three pieces makes things get a little too tall.

Attractive and functional tool storage without breaking the bank

I've always had mix-and-match storage solutions in my garage but finally got tired of the hap-hazard look. Over the past year, I've been slowly updating my garage with Craftsman red/black workbenches, shelving units, and now toolboxes. It looks fantastic and it's all holding up really well. This chest is no exception. The drawers absolutely glide on the tracks and considering I bought it for $104 on sale, the overall construction is MUCH nicer than I was expecting. The standard drawers are deep enough to hold most hand tools (though larger hammers will need the deep drawer or the top-lid compartment). I also purchased a pack of the pre-cut Craftsman liners that fit the drawers perfectly. I wish they were thicker, but it's not like I'm storing heavy equipment in a 2" drawer.

All in all, it's a great tool chest and if you can get it on sale like I did, it's practically a no-brainer. My only knock on it is that the locking mechanism is annoying. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, and I'd buy another one of these chests in a heartbeat. It's just a really dumb design. In order to be able to open the drawers AND the top chest, you need to have the key turned to the middle, but since the middle isn't a real position in the locking mechanism, gravity keeps pulling the lock-arm down and it locks the drawers. I actually keep a tiny wood cube inside the chest under the lock-arm to keep it in the center and just move it out of the way when I actually want to lock the chest.

Like I said, it's not a deal breaker and it won't stop me from buying another one of these chests and a couple of the wheeled bottom chests next time they go on sale. It's just an unnecessary annoyance on an otherwise perfect toolchest.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
