Great box! Bad casters

I had a cheap tool cart from you-know-who with ball-bearing drawers that worked great - until the drawers opened by themselves and the box fell over on a Thunderbird. This box is portable, yet large enough to hold every essential tool I need to move from car to car. The drawers don't open by themselves - thank you Griplatch! Tall enough that anything on top is at hand. Only caveat: the casters SUCK. They don't rotate easily and any tiny piece of crud on the shop floor stops them. I didn't notice this until the box was loaded. And every crack in the floor makes the box go BOOM BOOM. Now I have to find better, softer casters and probably drill holes... Really disappointed with the casters. The side handle is hefty, smooth, and doesn't budge. I get compliments on the box, esp. for the price. One final note: a week after I got this, someone I work with noted he and I had the same number on our locks and could open each other's boxes. The lock is fairly standard and easily replaceable.

Just right.

I have several chests from Craftsman, starting with the low-end $79 bundle from years ago, to the ball bearing set, to now the griplatch ball bearing. Don't skimp - just get the grip latch. It is perfect, the drawers slide well, and you don't have to slam them shut like the plain ball bearing ones (which messes up your nicely organized tools).

This is a TALL rolling cabinet, and if you are getting a top chest I would NOT suggest the intermediate chest. You'd have to be 7ft tall to get to the top drawers of if you an intermediate AND a top chest sitting on this. Just get a top chest and call it good.

I picked it up at my local store 10 minutes after ordering and it was in perfect condition when I got it home. No scrathes, nothing. It is HEAVY - I struggled quite a bit as one person getting it out of my trunk and over to put the wheels on. I'd strongly suggest two people for unloading. Other than that - just buy it. I've been watching it and snagged it for $399.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Feels solid, but why no reversable handle?

Just got the box and happy with the fit/finish.  My only complaint so far is that there are only screw holes on the right hand side for the handle.  Why????  Since I need this box to go flush on the right, I don't have the handle on it.  Maybe I should drill my own holes on the other side (assuming no internal interference.)  But I see no reason they couldn't have offered the option for either side.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good quality

The box is pretty good overall.  The drawer tracks and catches could be tighter but other than that, I have no complaints.

Craftsman 26" wide 8-Dwr BB Griplatch Bottom Chest - Great

I really like this chest. It is very sturdy and the drawers slide very smooth when loaded. The Griplatch is fantastic. Even with the cheap casters it still rolls smooth when loaded up.

My complaints are minor, It would have been great to have 4 double locking swivel ball bearing casters.

When I removed a drawer that was full of stuff it was very hard to get back in because the slides on the cabinet seam to be a bit wider than the drawer.

Also there are no holes or way to secure a top box with bolts or something.

Should come with drawer liners for the price.

Thanks,

Jeffery

Pretty good product with a couple glitches

This toolbox is almost all great. The griplatch system is very worth the money if you plan to open and close the drawers oftem while working. WAY batter than the detent style and opens effortlessly...unless misaligned or bent. The top drawer on my chest came just a hair off on alignment and makes it harder to open. The griplatch seems to catch a little when opening slow. The good part is that I always open it fast and therefore don't really notice. The other negative which I am sure happens with all craftsman boxes is the wheel locks. They don't lock very well. It is a pretty cheap and weak design, but common.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Ball-bearing slides are worth it!

I bought this box for work and have gradually filled it up. It is now very full and the drawers roll so smooth. Others in the shop have regular slides and have to tug to pull them out even with light load. So happy with this box I just bought the top to go with it. It could be priced cheaper. Other places have similar boxes for less than $400. I payed $409 and thought it should have been cheaper but still a good deal. I would really rather have two more small drawers at the top instead of the 4" That would have really made the box better for me. I keep my wrenches organized and thin drawers come in handy. Deep drawers just get loaded with junk and you cant find what your looking for.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 26-1/2" 8-Drawer Ball-Bearing Roll-Away is Awesome

Without a doubt this is the best tool chest I had owned.

I had worked on the automobile industry for many years. Like many other technicians I prefer to buy durable and affordable products. Craftsman’s 26-1/2” 8-Drawer Ball-Bearing Roll-Away Tool Chest is an excellent combination of durability and affordability.  8 drawers provide enough space for the tools that I use the most, making it my most convenient tool chest.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
