Whacking Away

Having gone through a number of whackers, all Craftsman, I went for the heavy duty version.  I started investing in the add-on tools and wanted to get a better return and thought the top of the line would do it.  After some misses with the purchase (the in store sales team came through!), I finally got to run the machine.  It is a beaut and much better than the last one - lighter weight, much better throttle control, easy to handle and control.

Bought the curved shaft, since I had the straight shaft from the earlier model; still prefer the straight shaft.

Picked up a hedge trimmer attachment and it is a heck of a lot more efficient than the electric I have (sorry, also a Craftsman).  The extra reach, variable speed, and easier control get me through the work in much less time.  Some advice: keep the cutting speed up as the trimmer will jam if too slow.

I was concerned about my ability to handle the trimmer with all that weight on the end, but the whacker is light and nicely balanced and I feel much safer and in control than when I used the electric trimmer.

All in all, a good purchase.

This thing is a brush ninja

Assembly pretty easy, love the quick line head on this 110 to 130 dia string gets the job done.Did the yard no problem then decided to give the blackberry vines a try, they have overgrown everything and have had no luck in the past using reg dia line on my old trimmer. Let me tell you this trimmer is a brush ninja, it ate the vines up never bogging down. Best line trimmer i have owned .

Not your weekend warrior

I bought and returned this unit within 24 hrs. The single line feed worked fine, but after two tanks of fuel and about 1/2 of my yard, the trimmer head started to warble, causing the entire unit to shake and vibrate. Probably not a good unit if you want to do more than wack your sidewalk weeds as it is pretty lightweight.

NEEDED A QUALITY CHECK

First time I used it the gas tank fell off! Two screws were missing to attach it to the motor. It was a bit scary. Fortunately I had a screw from an old unit that fits.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman 27 cc 2-cycle gas trimmer

Just bought my third weed trimmer in about 15 years.  It has started everytime and has been used with several attachments.  The engine does produce some heat.  The handle has vibrated loose (and retightened) but I am planning on replacing it with a handle from an older trimmer.  The fuel fill cap is on the side (not on the top like previous models) which can leak gas if the cap is not fully tightened.  I use the .130 line and was able to cut about 400 linear feet of weeds/grass including a 50 square foot area of thick, tall (10 inches) weeds.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Difficult to Start

I chose this model because I am a female and it seemed to be the most comfortable in length and als weight of all the other models that were displayed at Sears.

I bought this last week and have tried several times to get it started with no success.  My dad also tried to start it and he was also unsuccessful.  I know that it is not the gas mix as I bought the Craftsman brand of pre-mixed fuel.

I just bought the speed start online and it should be delivered in a few days.  Hoping that this works....otherwise, it is going back.  I will try to come back and let you know how the speed start works.
