I read that people had trouble with the grass clogging around the head but I figured I would give them a chance and found to my disappointment that the reports were accurate. I was stopping way too often to clear the clog. If you use it only for lawn grass it would be fine but any tall wiry grass just doesn't work...I am disappointed.

very hard starting..and...if you can get it to start it will stall out. returned it to sears for "repair or replace" in-warranty service. called sears service 800# and could not get a stright when i would it back. the shaft rusted after 6 months and i had to sand it and re-paint it with rust-oleum.
fresh out the box it looks good. i wouldn't want any less power. seems just enough juice for my large lot. i went through 2 strings while doing my first trim, but if it had a spool, I don't see this as being a problem, or excessive, though just keep in mind that you will have to manually change the string, and not just tap the end. (just takes a minute to refill). after extensive research, the reason I went with the craftsman was the extended warranty. spend the extra $40.00, and have pice of mind, drive the thing into the ground (you know you will) and they cover everything. (for the record, I don't ever buy warranties.). Will update after I run it through it paces.
I used this weed eater for two days, until the plastic trigger broke off inside the shaft. I tried to return the item for a replacement, but by the time I found my receipt and made the 40 mile drive to the store, the 30 day return policy expired by 10 days; so it was sent in for repairs. I had purchased this item back in June. It is now September, and I still do not have a weedwacker that I purchased from Sears. I really regret purchasing this weedwacker. First, I only got to use it for two days this season. Second, the quality was just not there. Long grass would get tangled up in the shaft, and the trimmer line would wear down when cleaning up the grass along the curb. I really miss having a spool feeder. What is most disappointing has been the long service delays and poor customer service.
Don't waste your time. Been using craftsman weed trimmers since 1980. Each design gets cheaper. I purchased this unit got it home put together and liked the look and feel. Put the 3.2 oz of oil to 1gallon of fuel and unit would idle and run high speed but no mid range. Ran it hour or so and no change. Took it back to Sears store and exchanged it for another of the same model and bought the pre mixed fuel. Got this unit home assembled it put the pre mixed fuel in it and had the same results as the first unit, needless to say I ran it full throttle thinking it would correct it self. It ran hot and blew up. Took back to Sears and got a refund. Did have a positive experience with the sales associate he was very professional, Thanks Freddy. I now own my first Husqvarna and problem solved. Just hate that Craftsman is headed downward.
