Nice tool set
Great tool set. Comes with a good array of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 6 and 12 pt sockets and drive tools. I particularly like the marked insert in the drawers for the tools. I would recommend this set to any weekend/shadetree mechanic. If you order them for direct shipment from sears.com, be prepared to wait up to 10 days for delivery "after" you get the "your order has shipped" notice.

Buyer Beware
I've been using Craftsman hand tools for many many years now and have literally spent thousands on them. Sadly, Craftsman tools are not the quality tools they once were. I bought this mechanics set at the end of 2011 thinking it was a great deal. I couldn't have been more wrong. You can easily see that they were made cheap and boxed cheap just to get 283 pieces to market. Well there is 283 pieces but many of those pieces are duplicates and hex keys. By far the worst feature about this set for me besides the poor quality of the tools are the drawers and the cheap plastic molds that the tools slide around on. I can't count how many times I've had to dig my tools out from the bottom of the box with an extension magnet to retrieve the sockets that fell down (the drawers do not pull out completely). Craftsman has really fell behind the pack of great tool makers and quality products. Until they roar back with quality, I've chosen to take my money and business elsewhere...snap-on tools.

Big Red Box of Awesome

Very complete starter kit. The chrome finish on a couple of the larger sockets is kinda rough, but it shouldn't affect performance (and after getting some use and dirt on 'em, I probably won't be able to notice anyway). Toolbox seems well built, but the drawers require a little finessing and elbow grease to to slide in and out without problems. The only drawback is the plastic carrying handle and hinges on the top of the case. It might hold the weight of the tools that came with it, but I get the feeling that it would be the first thing to fail if you put more weight inside. As a side note, one of the sockets received was a duplicate. Not bad, considering the large amount that are in the kit, but one quick (and friendly) call later, the problem was addressed and the missing socket was out of the UPS envelope and in the box 2 days later. Awesome.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent value

I did quite a bit of research comparing the types and sizes of sockets included with the tool sets before I settled on this one. A lot of the tool sets have the smaller sizes but lack the larger sized tools. For the money you can't beat this set. The selection of tools and the included tool box make this an excellent value.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

A Quality Tool Assortment

I like the overall idea of the toolbox it's just that i found it difficult figuing which slot most of the pieces go in and the draws would have been perfect if they had ball bearings to roll in and out,i was missing 2 pieces in the set which is no big deal as i'm sure sears will correct that and otherwise a great set

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great tools for a great price

I bought this tool set as a Christmas gift for my 17 year old grandson. I was able to purchase it for a total of 274.00 dollars while it was on sale. I also was able to use a layaway plan for eight weeks and I just brought it home. I love the steel tool box and the plastic organizers will help my grandson keep track of the tools. The price was great and the quality of the pieces is excellent. It?s not professional grade but a good value at a good price. It?s a starter kit and will serve him well for years to come. I would recommend this set to anyone wanting a tool set that will do almost every automotive repair. Only one small problem; the set came with two of one type of socket and it was missing another. I took the spare back to the store and received the correct socket immediately. This set is so much better than the ************** units and the sears guarantee can?t be beat.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Very complete tool set

This tool set will make a great choice for anyone with a serious need for a general purpose mechanic's tool set short of HD truck service. 55 pound of tools, 171 sockets, 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", inch, metric, 6 point, 12 point, standard and deep, there are more sockets here than I can imagine a need for. Which makes it just about right, because as soon as you say you don't need a given socket, chances are you will need it the very next day. One very pleasant surprise which I found when I got this set was a set of four tool organizers, one for each drawer, which is not mentioned in the item description. They are molded plastic and an exact match for the sockets that come in this kit. Each slot has the size or tool name molded into the organizer so you know what goes where. It even has a space for the screwdriver bits and nut driver bits and handles. A little light on screwdrivers though, only 6 included, you might want to get a few more.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Quality seems to have suffered over the years

Sharp edges on the ratchets and sockets. Some areas on the wrenches should be polished but not. The polished areas was poorly done. You can hardly tell if it's polished or not. If i compare them with Craftsman tools I bought back in the 70's it's clear their not the quality they used to be.
