Product Description

Save Time With the Convenient to Use 28" Dual-Stage Gas Snow Blower from Craftsman

The trigger controlled zero-turn steering technology used in the Craftsman 28" Dual-Stage Gas Snow Blower coupled with 16-inch X-Trac tires make for better maneuverability in snowy conditions. Fitted with a 277cc four-cycle OHV engine, it clears a 28-inch wide path with great ease. This snow thrower is a great choice for use on large paved and gravel sideways or sidewalks as the 12-inch serrated steel auger and impeller break through hard-packed snow.

Choose from the eight power-propelled speeds of this 28" Dual-Stage Gas Snow Blower to suit your needs. A four-way, 190-degree chute rotation is possible with an easy-to-use joystick. Deluxe Glide-Tech skid shoes slide along any obstructions and help keep your garage floor and driveway free from rust stains and damage. Plow styled handles with panel design allow single hand operation to control the snow tool and offer storage space for shear pins.

  • With tool-less drift cutters, the Craftsman 28" Dual-Stage Gas Snow Blower can break through drop snow and snow drifts which appear in the equipment's path, for greater efficiency
  • Featuring a push-button electric start, the 277cc four-cycle OHV Craftsman engine offers a great combination of power and fuel efficiency
  • The trigger controlled zero-turn steering technology makes navigating those sharp turns very easy
  • A 28-inch clearing width and 21-inch intake height lets you remove snow and free driveways and pathways
  • In-dash LED headlight, plow style handles and mitten-grip starter handle for additional comfort
  • Six forward and two reverse, power-propelled speeds help make snow removal quicker and more efficient
  • 16 in. x 4.8 in. X-Trac tires offer greater traction
  • Available in a black/red finish
  • Item Weight: 239 lbs.
  • Two year limited warranty

Five years and no problems
I bought this unit because I didn't want to spend the extra $250-$300 on the Ariens equivalent, which has a Briggs engine now anyway. Yes there is a lot of plastic but has held up fine. It does struggle on the first cut with 8-10" of wet compacted snow because it tends to plow it out front if you go to fast. The only cure for that is a bigger unit($1500+) or wait until some of the moisture evaporates. Normal snow is no problem. Lots of power. Like all snowblowers, reverse isn't very fast, but it pulls back manually pretty easy, at least for me. It has electric start but I don't use it. With three pumps of the primer, it always starts on the first pull. I would not go any smaller than this unit for my needs here in Michigan. I have been very pleased with it and would buy another Craftsman.

Bad shoot control
I had owned a Sears snowblower for nearly 15 years, and thought it was time for an upgrade. It seems they don't make them like they used to! This snowblower was delivered for free right on schedule. It looked great, but immediately I realized the joy stick for the handle did not work. It would move the shoot up and down, but the button would not press in to move it side to side. I checked everything, attempted to re-assemble the shoot and bar, and even took the joystick apart - a maddening experience! The cable seemed to be jammed, and the whole system seemed a bit plasticey and cheap. I wish it had the old system of just rotating a handle to pan the shoot. I decided that even if they brought me a replacement that worked, I bet it would be the first thing to fail in a year after the warranty wears off. So before I even put gas in the tank this thing is getting returned. I will look elsewhere.

Simply AWESOME Machine

I can say after using this unit after two snow events in 2014 of 15 inches and 6 inches that this machine is simply awesome. I owned a MTD 8 horse power self propelled for 18 years. It was showing it's age so I sold it. I bought this unit and after putting on few parts together i was ready to go. When the snow came it cut through the 15 inch wet and heavy snow like nothing was there. The 6 inch snow event was a piece of cake. The EZ Steer made my old unit seem clunky. The snow shoot joy stick was great to use over the old hand crank style on my MTD. When the first snow came It was 18 degrees outside. I started the unit with the pull cord and didn't have to use the electric start. It started on the first pull. I can say from past experience Sears stands behind their products. If you are not sure what unit you want to get. Get a unit with EZ Steer. If you have used a snow blower before you will understand when you use the EZ Steer the first time. Get a unit with at least a 277cc engine. Pay the extra money vs.what you'll pay for the smaller engine. It is worth it for the extra horse power. Again SIMPLY AWESOME machine.

Last only 7 years and then dead

I bought this snow blower in 2007, I like it at first. In 2010 it had a problem with belt and costed me 300 bucks to fix it. In 2013 this one refused to work and engine is completely dead. I have to dump it in garbage. So 7 years usage, total cost 1000+300=1300 plus gas. About 200 bucks per year! What a piece of ****! If I hired someone to shovel the snow, it only costs me 300 buck per winter. Now with craftsman or craptsman, I have to do all work myself and still cost me 200 bucks per winter. Some other brands, like Ariens, can easily last more than 10 years, or 20 years! Byebye, crapman. Will never ever buy it again.

Very Good Snowblower

This started very easily and I love the headlight on it. It did a great job blowing the snow and handled well. It was also nice having 2 reverse speeds which my old snow blower did not have.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great unit but redesign the chute

This is my third Craftsman snowblower. I am very happy with the products. My last one lasted me 12 years. I sold it in great working order and bought this one. Mechanically, this model is even better than my last (29"). I have never even used the electric start as it starts on the 1st or 2nd pull every time. I do garage/shed it when not in use and I am thorough on my maintenance. My only criticism is the chute. The other units allowed you to throw snow slightly backward (20 degrees past perpendicular to either side). My current machine only allows me to throw snow directly left/right and any direction forward. The chute also has trouble locking into a position. It tends to wander during use. If the chute were better, I would give it 5 stars.

Excellent choice, great unit and great value

If you've done your research then you honed in on the 28 inch 277cc unit. It's a solid and strong unit and an excellent value. It is well balanced, moves nicely, good snow output, good speed options, the joystick works fine (except that I tend to find myself moving the position more than I used to just because it's there and I can). It would be nice if it had a fuel shutoff valve, but not a deal breaker. Overall I'm happy with it and think it's one of the best units and value on the market at the moment.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Powerful and easy to use

I purchased this item after much deliberation on whether to hire someone or DIY Im so happy that i purchased this model. It is super powerful on my very steap driveway and has proven ability to throw even the wettest snow we have here in coastal New England. At first i was intimidated that the size would prove to be more than i could manuever however the "power steering", rugged tires and 10hp engine make this easy to use.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great New Snowblower!

Purchased this Craftsman Snowblower to replace my old one which was also a Craftsman that was 17 years old. It was finally starting to give me some difficulty. The new one is amazing! Love it, probably should have upgraded a few years ago!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman performance is awesome

Nothing like waiting for a snow storm to buy your snow thrower. I used it to clear 2' of snow at our cabin as soon as I got back from the store. Could not be happier with it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
