Long handle gets the leverage needed.

Picked mine up today 12/13/11 and am overall impress. Seems to have the same guts and teeth count as the basic line 3/8th ratchet. The extra length make leveraging the action a lot better.

Only complaint and seems to be affecting the other ratchets, is that it is "Made in Taiwan" and not made in the USA anymore. Still paid the USA price as before though.

This is not your father's Craftsman.
First off this is a good looking ratchet that nicely fills a gap in the product line; a long handled non-flex ratchet. The finish is first rate and the tool feels good in the hands. Unfortunately professional caliber ratchets cannot rely on looks when it is time to get it done. This ratchets suffers from the same inadequate internal mechanism that the entire professional ratchet line is plagued with. The poorly designed and executed 36 tooth ratchet mechanism effectively negates what should have been a solid performer in Craftsman's ratchet line up. In daily use the ratchet fully and immediately engages only about 80% of the time and is prone to pawl slippage under load; especially when tightening fasteners in a vertical position. As long as this ratchet is marketed as 'professional' I cannot recommend it to any but the most casual of mechanics. Except maybe to use as a loaner so that your better quality ratchets stay with you where they belong.

I broke this ratchet with my hands.

Yes I am strong, but I should not have been able to break this ratchet by hand power only. The finish is pretty but that is where the quality STOPS. Had to use a 20 year old S-K tools ratchet to finish the job.

Makes For A Nice Addition To Your Ratchet Selection

44833 - is another member of the 36 tooth teardrop family in the Craftsman Full Polished Line. You'll find that with an 11 inch handle some of those hard to reach fasteners are no longer an issue. You need to remember that it is a 36 tooth ratchet and as such requires a 10 degree swing to engagement For those of you concerned as to the Country Of Origin of the current offering of this ratchet, there is no need for concern. Prior to the submission of this review I took a close look and found it to be on par with the previous ratchet.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

More bang for the buck!

Great sturdy ratchet for getting tough small bolts out. Ratchet has a longer handle with a great design and feel. Other long handle ratchets can cost up to 150$ and do not have the ez return warranty of Craftsman. I have used and broken many other tools, but the local sears stores just make it easy to replace and get any other tools I need to get the job done.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
sweet ratchet

very nioce ratchet very fine tooth so better in smaller hard to get places and not haviong to hold onto the socket as much and nice for the extra leverage without having to go and get a 1/2 drive ratchet or a piece of pipe lol and that alwys tend to break them or bend the handles

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Craftsman tools are still good products for the price...

Even though they are not made the way they used to be, they are still good products for the price... This is not a great rachet, but it is a good one for daily use by professional mechanics.... This was actually a replacement rachet..

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Cant handle a very tight bolt.

I bought this rachet brand new and changed the wheel bearing on my truck and went to go take off torqued to 125 i went to to push down on this rachet and the whole inside gears just snaped and siezed up. I took the rachet back and tried the bolt again and guess what...i breaks again.
