Not a daily driver
The finish on these ratchets is top notch. The action is superb and spins very easily. The heavier handle adds a nice balanced feel, for whatever that's worth. The button release action is silky smooth. They really are eye catching, just machined and tooled beautifully. For me they are the perfect secondary/back-up ratchets for those occasions when I need the fine tooth gears or the slightly thinner head profile. I say secondary/backup because for me the ergonomic short, very flat, heavy and wide handle design was not very ergonomic at all. The short handle makes for less torque and more strength that you must use and the thin rectangular-ish shape grew old fast. I found in daily use that they are fatiguing and hard on my hands, almost painful in higher torque situations. In certain cases these fine tooth gears are nice to be sure, but I find that for extended use in harsh environments that the tried and true, extra strength and durability of the 36 tooth (10 degree) long and round handle designs are much better as my primary. Not trying to imply that somebody shouldn't buy these ratchets. Look in any professional mechanics box and you'll find a variety of ratchets and drivers for a myriad of situations. Just saying that for me they found a specific place in my box, though it wasn't as my daily driver. Also check out the Craftsman pro line # 44813, 44814, etc. for a stronger, ergonomic, longer handled, daily/professional use alternative, (Dubbed " The best performing ratchet we've ever offered!") .

Wanted U.S.A = this one is made in Taiwan

Smooth action and really a nice design, just thought I could get one of the last domestics...no luck. I will say without dropping large cash for the finer tooth units, these really are huge step ahead of a standard Craftsman ratchet.

Worth the money

A definite step up from the standard ratchet. You press the back in to release the socket so it does an exceptional job of holding on the sockets and extensions. Even though it's thin and fits in more places, I definitely would not just purchase it for it's thin profile but instead for the the feel and apparent quality.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Must have

This ratchet is awesome.  Feels good in your hand, and is very quick to hit the next tooth.  I figure this ratchet will be passed on to other family members.  It is very clean, easy to use and great.  It is worth the upgrade from the regular ratchets for sure and I really think this should be the new entry level ratchet.  It is so comfortable to use and the lower arc setting is great for tight spots where you can't move the ratchet too much.  Put these on your gift list, s you will not be disappointed with this ratchet.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Overall Ratchet

A little heavy, but it is sturdy and outperforms every other ratchet I have owned. The finish is nice and the profile is very comfortable. On par with Snap-On for much less money.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Strong & Reliable ratchet

I bought this to replace the "regular" 3/8" drive ratchet that came in my craftsman tool kit for two reasons. First I misplaced the other, but must importantly I had this ratchet in my tool chest back home and wanted one to go with me in the truck tool kit. I hate the slack in the normal/regular/default craftsman ratchet that comes with every tool kit! This one doesn't have any of that - you have a tight gearing with precise clicks. It ratchets easy on loose bolts when you hold the socket vs the hard click you get when you can't quite turn a bolt by hand and then you ratchet on it but the bolt and socket slip in your grip from oil or grease. This one will allow you to get it down without throwing it across the shop!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Thin Profile Ratchets are a notch above

I've never had any major problems with my old Craftsman tools. However, over the past few years I've developed significant stress issues in my hands. The thin profile ratchets cause much less fatigue and pain. They are worth the extra money.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
