Craftsman 3/8 in. Pistol Grip Impact Wrench

I wished I had made this purchase years ago, I already had the 1/2 inch impact wrench but I can use this one in places that the other wrench is just  to big to fit in. I just replaced the shocks on the front of my truck and if you have ever done that you know what a pain it is the get the top nut of the shock. it was a breeze using this  impact wrench. Would definately recommnd to all my friends and family. The price was excellent as I was lucky enogh to catch it on sale.

Craftsman 3/8 in. Pistol Grip Impact Wrench Junk
This is the second Craftsman 3/8 impact wrench I have purchased in 5 years. The first one lasted over 1 yr then quit. I was able to return it since I had also purchased the extended replacement warranty plan. The second one lasted about 3 years and I was happy with the performance. I just ordered a new one online and also purchased the extended replacement warranty. Out of the box it did not work, it had no torque. I went to my local Sears store to return it for replacement and was told I could not return it there because it was an online order! After further discussion, they said they would repair it. I told them that according to "terms and agreement" I could receive a replacement up to 90 days after purchase. They called me a liar! After proving my point, they decided to replace it. I have not used the newest one yet. I feel the employees need proper training. According to the Craftsman warranty enclosed, the wrench is warrantied for 1 yr for replacement. The additional warranty I purchased is a 3 yr "replacement warranty". The employees said it is a 3 yr "repair warranty". Craftsman and Sears, you both are going down hill!

Impact wrench

Good wrench for money. Plenty of torque for different fasteners. Some plastic parts are flimsy particularly the red ring around the rear housing. Mine fell off after first use. Not fitted properly, but not a big deal as I feel it looks better without it. Wrench has good feel to it and isn't too heavy. Made well.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Outstanding Control, size, weight

Update: 04-23-2014 I haven't done a lot of auto repair projects in the past few years, which is a good thing, but it is still going strong with no issues, air leaks etc. PROS: Light, small and the power is very controllable. The reverse is fully variable and at any power level the trigger is also variable as opposed to many air impact wrenches which are either on or off there is no control at the trigger. Like a gas pump trigger - the more you squeeze the faster the gas flows. 3/8's - no need to use a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. 3/8 sockets get into smaller spaces then 1/2". If you want to use 1/4 you only need one adapter, not two. CONS: - Plastic direction control - metal would be stronger and add very little to the cost. - Finish is scratched up - would like some raised edges or bars to help protect the finish. - Not as strong as 1/2 impact wrench. - More expensive than the typical 1/2 wrench but well worth it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

ok for the money

I have owned one for about a year.  It gets used about once a week at work, light duty stuff.  Right now, I'm ordering a third c-clip retainer that holds the socket on the anvil.  The impact does what it's suppose to do, but that is a pain in the butt when it goes worng and it takes a week and a half to fix.  If you work as a mechanic, a tool truck may be your best bet with weekly service.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
pretty good air wrench

I'm impressed with this air wrench so far since I've had it for a month and I use it just about everyday as an auto technician . My air wrenches are snap-on except for this one and I'm considering investing in more of the craftsman since they come with a better replacement policy and are way cheaper, although the snapon dealer is a great guy and has alot of specialty and diagnostic equipment you can't get thru sears. I had purchased a similar air wrench from ***** but was totally dissapointed as it claimed to have 200ft.lbs of torque but i tried it on a couple of lug nuts against my snap on wrench which is rated around 100 to 150 ft.lbs torque and it wouldn't budge them . needless to say i took it back and went to Sears when I saw this one on sale and it's worked well so far , defitely worth the $70. I paid .

I would recommend this product to a friend.
