Best Value For The Price
After finding overpriced used junk online and at garage sales, I searched thoroughly for a new, compact, portable unit that would met my needs, for about $100-125. I did lots of "homework" and shopping around, and it paid off. I am sure I have put this unit through more abuse in 6 months than most homeowners will in a lifetime. NOTE: There is a HUGE difference between "Piston" type compressors (like this one), vs "Diaphragm" style (like the worthless, slow, noisy ones you plug in a cigarette lighter). Buy a piston compressor like this one. Do NOT buy an "Oil-Free" compressor, they are diaphragm units and you will be disappointed. They take 10-20 minutes to air up a tire, this thing will do it in less than a minute. My store was out of stock, so I ordered it online, and they shipped it to my home for FREE. This unit was in perfect condition out of the box, (I was worried, box was beat-up by freight company). Poured in the included oil, and put it to work. I really like that it came with a hose and accessory kit, (even a roll of teflon tape!), and oil. I bought a $4 quick-change coupler at the auto parts store and put it on the hose, so I can change tools quickly. A GREAT feature is the adjustable pressure regulator, and dual gauges. You don't have to worry about over-inflating anything, just set the pressure you want with a ****. I have used it HARD for the past 6 months, and it is proving to be very durable. It does not have enough capacity to constantly operate heavy-duty "air-hog" tools like die grinders, but with the 3 gallon tank, I just let it catch-up between short work sessions. NOTE: I highly recommend changing the oil after the first hour or two of actual running time. Just like a car engine, the break-in process creates metallic wear particles. That first oil change is the most critical, and in a big way, determines how long your engine (or compressor) will last. You only need a very tiny bottle of compressor oil, (It only holds like 4 Oz). Easy to change with just a pair of pliers or adjustable wrench for the drain plug, just drain it into an empty plastic water or soda bottle. Cheap insurance to ensure a long life. You can see the oil through the sight plug, when it starts to get dark, change it. I have changed mine twice since then, and I've gotten this thing so hot, several times, running almost non-stop for an hour or more at a time, and figured it would die. Nope! I am very satisfied with it. Kind of noisy, (what compressor isn't?). Thinking the air filter inlet could be modified to flow more air, (to improve the performance). Overall glad I took the time to research and select this unit. Highly recommend it, unless you need a larger unit. The best small household compressor you will find, and under $100 on sale. Oh, and it holds air pressure forever! I haven't used it in a month, it's been unplugged, and it still has 100# in the tank.

Cheap but works.
Let me start by saying that - based on the low price - I did not expect a high quality product made in the US, all I wanted was a little compressor to fill tires and maybe use air tools occasionally. I was still a little disappointed, the first issue was the assembly of the handle: It is held in place with two screws, one of which was cross-threaded out of the box. And that was actually the better one of the two, because the other had fallen off the compressor and was loose in the box, with no sign of the washer and lock-washer present on the stuck screw. After filling the compressor with the supplied oil (which was nice - certain discount stores make you buy the oil separately), the compressor fired right up. That's where the next problem started: The rubber feet of the compressor are so hard that they don't absorb any vibrations, so while the motor is running, the compressor moves around the garage as far as permitted by the power cable or any accessories attached. It looked pretty funny, actually, I should have made a video. Finally, the quick-connect for the air seems to be a little bit off, it requires an enormous amount of force to insert the mating connector. But I might replace that anyway, since there is no air shut-off valve installed either. In summary, this is the usual low-quality tool you would expect at a discount store, with a little extra customer service (and warranty), with a couple of fixable problems, but it does work.

does the job

i had looked at pancake compressors, but for the price this one is better...the 3 gallon tank is great and the oil keeps the compressor going...it quickly pumped up my lawn tractor tires and works just fine for car tires also....it is a little noisy, but nothing more than any other compressor....craftsmen quality at a great price!

Had this for 9 years

I bought this 9 years ago to run a trim nailer and general usage such as filling tires and blowing off bench tops. I built my 30x 50 shop and used it to run a framing nailer and have continued to use it filling tires from bikes, vehicles, trailers and tractors. It won't run an impact but I didn't buy it to run an impact. If not needed for running an impact or other air tools there is no reason to spend more than this thing costs. I have used it on my air die grinders and sometimes you have to let it build up volume and pressure. I will buy another when this one gives out, if it gives out.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good compressor

I really like this little compressor. I abused my last one enough to buy another. I use mine quite abit. It runs a roof nailer just fine even though it isn't recommended. My last one lasted 3 years of continuos abuse and that's what lead to me buying it again. The only thing i don't like as that its tippy during transport so you do have to secure it. Other than that great compressor for the price.

3 Gallon Air Compressor

This is a great tool for the average home garage for refilling tires and bicycles and balloons, etc. I used my first one for years and then sold it and bought a new one because I could not live without one.

Nice compressor that I can take anywhere.

I purchased this for use at an apartment because the garage facility only had a 15 amp circuit. It works very well within that limitation and I only use it for inflating tires and blowing clean automotive parts and tool chests. Keep in mind it is portable and only 3 gallons. It's not meant to replace a 60 gallon 5hp shop compressor.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

good household compressor

This 3 gallon Craftsman tank is great for household chores like tire inflation. This unit holds pressure wells so it does not have to run frequently. It also features a compact design.

Best bang for your buck.

Got tired of going to the gas station and spending a dollar or so to fill up tires on the trucks or motorcycle. This is perfect and it will come in handy when washing cars to help dry the small crevices where water hides. Was on sale for $89 and the price can't be beat. I love my craftsman products. Only negative about the compressor is it does dance across the floor when it's charging up. I will have to find a way to secure it to the floor.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Compressor

I bought this compressor 10 years ago and am still incredibly happy with it. For small quick jobs, it can't be beat. It doesn't have enough CFM to use an impact wrench with it but it's quite good for using a nail gun or air grinder/ sander. It's small enough to carry to the job location and just big enough to get the job done. I have never had any regrets with the purchase of this unit. It does vibrate around a little bit but I expected that it might be due to it's overall weight.
