Best Value For The Price
After finding overpriced used junk online and at garage sales, I searched thoroughly for a new, compact, portable unit that would met my needs, for about $100-125. I did lots of "homework" and shopping around, and it paid off. I am sure I have put this unit through more abuse in 6 months than most homeowners will in a lifetime. NOTE: There is a HUGE difference between "Piston" type compressors (like this one), vs "Diaphragm" style (like the worthless, slow, noisy ones you plug in a cigarette lighter). Buy a piston compressor like this one. Do NOT buy an "Oil-Free" compressor, they are diaphragm units and you will be disappointed. They take 10-20 minutes to air up a tire, this thing will do it in less than a minute. My store was out of stock, so I ordered it online, and they shipped it to my home for FREE. This unit was in perfect condition out of the box, (I was worried, box was beat-up by freight company). Poured in the included oil, and put it to work. I really like that it came with a hose and accessory kit, (even a roll of teflon tape!), and oil. I bought a $4 quick-change coupler at the auto parts store and put it on the hose, so I can change tools quickly. A GREAT feature is the adjustable pressure regulator, and dual gauges. You don't have to worry about over-inflating anything, just set the pressure you want with a ****. I have used it HARD for the past 6 months, and it is proving to be very durable. It does not have enough capacity to constantly operate heavy-duty "air-hog" tools like die grinders, but with the 3 gallon tank, I just let it catch-up between short work sessions. NOTE: I highly recommend changing the oil after the first hour or two of actual running time. Just like a car engine, the break-in process creates metallic wear particles. That first oil change is the most critical, and in a big way, determines how long your engine (or compressor) will last. You only need a very tiny bottle of compressor oil, (It only holds like 4 Oz). Easy to change with just a pair of pliers or adjustable wrench for the drain plug, just drain it into an empty plastic water or soda bottle. Cheap insurance to ensure a long life. You can see the oil through the sight plug, when it starts to get dark, change it. I have changed mine twice since then, and I've gotten this thing so hot, several times, running almost non-stop for an hour or more at a time, and figured it would die. Nope! I am very satisfied with it. Kind of noisy, (what compressor isn't?). Thinking the air filter inlet could be modified to flow more air, (to improve the performance). Overall glad I took the time to research and select this unit. Highly recommend it, unless you need a larger unit. The best small household compressor you will find, and under $100 on sale. Oh, and it holds air pressure forever! I haven't used it in a month, it's been unplugged, and it still has 100# in the tank.

Cheap but works.
Let me start by saying that - based on the low price - I did not expect a high quality product made in the US, all I wanted was a little compressor to fill tires and maybe use air tools occasionally. I was still a little disappointed, the first issue was the assembly of the handle: It is held in place with two screws, one of which was cross-threaded out of the box. And that was actually the better one of the two, because the other had fallen off the compressor and was loose in the box, with no sign of the washer and lock-washer present on the stuck screw. After filling the compressor with the supplied oil (which was nice - certain discount stores make you buy the oil separately), the compressor fired right up. That's where the next problem started: The rubber feet of the compressor are so hard that they don't absorb any vibrations, so while the motor is running, the compressor moves around the garage as far as permitted by the power cable or any accessories attached. It looked pretty funny, actually, I should have made a video. Finally, the quick-connect for the air seems to be a little bit off, it requires an enormous amount of force to insert the mating connector. But I might replace that anyway, since there is no air shut-off valve installed either. In summary, this is the usual low-quality tool you would expect at a discount store, with a little extra customer service (and warranty), with a couple of fixable problems, but it does work.

3 gal. 135 psi compressor

Got home Labor Day night with my new toy...unboxed it and started assembling. Well built, clean welds, solid. New bolt on handle allows for the 135 psi..1 less weld on the tank gets a 10psi boost..for those that thought the bolt on handle was a cheap move, you just don't understand the gain power! This compressor is quiet..builds pressure fast.Has a regulator that works really well..all it needs is a inline filter and its ready to run some air nailers! I want to thank Bobbi Jo *****,the Sales Associate for working with me on this purchase. She went above and beyond to get my problem taken care of. Thanks.

Solid

This is a solid compressor for the money. The plastic hose and attachments are not very high quality, but it's what I expected. The compressor does what it's supposed to do.

bought in 2004, still going strong

I bought this in 2004 and it has been a great compressor: First the bad: It's loud, it's heavy, but they probably all are. The good - filling up care tires, bike tires, footballs, etc, it's a breeze. Perfect for light to medium duty jobs too - nailing trim, fences, other honey do's that you need a nail gun for. One minor problem - I have an older house with older wiring. If I am running a lot of electricity through a circuit and the compressor kicks on sometimes it does not get enough power, runs improperly (like 1/4 speed) and eventually kicks off. You may think the compressor is broken, but it's not. Just find a different plug and try that.

Good unit for small jobs

This is an excellent compressor for small jobs. While it has the power to inflate truck tires, this is an excellent unit for smaller jobs, just as nail guns, and inflating ATV and tractor tires. It's easy to move around.

received item damaged

When my son received his birthday present, it was damaged. I know it wasn't Sears fault, probably the UPS man was rough with it.

Review specs and match to your need before buying

This is my first serious compressor. My only other air compressor was an old Black & Decker unit that was for inflating balls. It wouldn't do tires. I use this compressor to keep air in the car tires, inflate soccer balls, blow out air purifiers, clean off tools and other such uses. I have not used it to power air tools yet. The compressor works great without any issues and I use it several times a month. My only suggestion is if you were needing a compressor for large projects such as installing floors or lots of air tool usage you might want a larger more powerful motor and larger tank so the compressor wouldn't be running all the time.

3 GALLON PORTABLE COMPRESSOR

I purchased this small compressor (my second one) because it is much more convenient for small or tasks of short duration as compared to my 30 gallon upright compressors. I have 2 of each size because I use one set at home and one on my small goat ranch. Obviously lugging this small compressor to where its needed as well at the time it takes for the charge up time is convenient for the smaller tasks ie tire inflation, cleaning yard tools etc. Unpacking and setting this small compressor up for use is simple and takes a minimum amount of time. All of the necessary parts and the instructions on "how to" are easy to understand with several diagrams/pictures to clarify and emphasize important saftey precautions. My only suggestion would be to add 2 wheels and a handle to push or pull the compressor since I believe it weighs 50 lbs. or more. The price is reasonable and if you have member points it is that much more economical

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Terrible usable life

I bought the compressor and within a year of very infrequent usage the compressor will no longer fully pressurize the tank. It should get to 135PSI but it will only get to 55PSI and runs continuously to keep up. Very disappointed in this product.

Do NOT buy this POS

I bought this compressor on june 20 th and on july 1 I returned it because it started leaking somewhere and wouldn't stay full without constantly running. Today at midnight the replacement one I got is doing it right where the unit joins to the tank and all I was doing was blowing off some tools that covered in saw dust. This thing is junk.
