Craftsman 3 Gal. Oil Lube Air Compressor Makes The Job Quick and Easy

This Craftsman 3 gal. oil lube air compressor with 3 pc. accessory kit does more than keep your car tires properly inflated - although it does that really well. It also makes short work of filling bike tires, basketballs, air mattresses, and more. You'll be your kids' hero when you have their bouncy house ready for bouncing in no time flat. And if you're a household repair do-it-yourselfer, this compressor operates pneumatic tools, like nail guns, paint sprayers, and air ratchets with equal ease.

Your Craftsman 3 gal. oil lube air compressor is small but tough. The housing material is steel for a long life. It has a 1.0 HP direct drive motor with a maximum operating pressure of 135 psi and a piston style pump. It weighs just 47 lbs., so it's easy to move to wherever you need it. Your PURchase includes a small bottle of compressor oil to get you started and a 25-foot coil hose. You also get an accessory kit with a ball tire chuck, male plug and seal tape. This thing's almost ready to go right out of the box-just add oil.

      • This Craftsman 3 gal. oil lube air compressor with 3 pc. accessory kit makes short work of any job needing compressed air, at home or at work
      • Lightweight (47 lbs.) and portable
      • Oil-lubricated piston pump
      • Low oil shut down safety feature
      • Has sight glass for easy visual check of oil level (no dipstick needed)

      Best Value For The Price
After finding overpriced used junk online and at garage sales, I searched thoroughly for a new, compact, portable unit that would met my needs, for about $100-125. I did lots of "homework" and shopping around, and it paid off. I am sure I have put this unit through more abuse in 6 months than most homeowners will in a lifetime. NOTE: There is a HUGE difference between "Piston" type compressors (like this one), vs "Diaphragm" style (like the worthless, slow, noisy ones you plug in a cigarette lighter). Buy a piston compressor like this one. Do NOT buy an "Oil-Free" compressor, they are diaphragm units and you will be disappointed. They take 10-20 minutes to air up a tire, this thing will do it in less than a minute. My store was out of stock, so I ordered it online, and they shipped it to my home for FREE. This unit was in perfect condition out of the box, (I was worried, box was beat-up by freight company). Poured in the included oil, and put it to work. I really like that it came with a hose and accessory kit, (even a roll of teflon tape!), and oil. I bought a $4 quick-change coupler at the auto parts store and put it on the hose, so I can change tools quickly. A GREAT feature is the adjustable pressure regulator, and dual gauges. You don't have to worry about over-inflating anything, just set the pressure you want with a ****. I have used it HARD for the past 6 months, and it is proving to be very durable. It does not have enough capacity to constantly operate heavy-duty "air-hog" tools like die grinders, but with the 3 gallon tank, I just let it catch-up between short work sessions. NOTE: I highly recommend changing the oil after the first hour or two of actual running time. Just like a car engine, the break-in process creates metallic wear particles. That first oil change is the most critical, and in a big way, determines how long your engine (or compressor) will last. You only need a very tiny bottle of compressor oil, (It only holds like 4 Oz). Easy to change with just a pair of pliers or adjustable wrench for the drain plug, just drain it into an empty plastic water or soda bottle. Cheap insurance to ensure a long life. You can see the oil through the sight plug, when it starts to get dark, change it. I have changed mine twice since then, and I've gotten this thing so hot, several times, running almost non-stop for an hour or more at a time, and figured it would die. Nope! I am very satisfied with it. Kind of noisy, (what compressor isn't?). Thinking the air filter inlet could be modified to flow more air, (to improve the performance). Overall glad I took the time to research and select this unit. Highly recommend it, unless you need a larger unit. The best small household compressor you will find, and under $100 on sale. Oh, and it holds air pressure forever! I haven't used it in a month, it's been unplugged, and it still has 100# in the tank.

      Cheap but works.
Let me start by saying that - based on the low price - I did not expect a high quality product made in the US, all I wanted was a little compressor to fill tires and maybe use air tools occasionally. I was still a little disappointed, the first issue was the assembly of the handle: It is held in place with two screws, one of which was cross-threaded out of the box. And that was actually the better one of the two, because the other had fallen off the compressor and was loose in the box, with no sign of the washer and lock-washer present on the stuck screw. After filling the compressor with the supplied oil (which was nice - certain discount stores make you buy the oil separately), the compressor fired right up. That's where the next problem started: The rubber feet of the compressor are so hard that they don't absorb any vibrations, so while the motor is running, the compressor moves around the garage as far as permitted by the power cable or any accessories attached. It looked pretty funny, actually, I should have made a video. Finally, the quick-connect for the air seems to be a little bit off, it requires an enormous amount of force to insert the mating connector. But I might replace that anyway, since there is no air shut-off valve installed either. In summary, this is the usual low-quality tool you would expect at a discount store, with a little extra customer service (and warranty), with a couple of fixable problems, but it does work.

      poor return on value

I had a craftsman's compressor similar to this one for 12 years. when it finally gave up I went out an bought this unit thinking I will get a quality unit since it was a craftsman... looks great and it did the job for 16 months, small jobs around the house. I had given the old one to my brother a contractor and he fix it... still runs and he uses it every week... I only use the new one once a month. I look closely and notice to "MY SURPRISE" made in china. I really regret giving away the old one. I contact sear to see what the warranty is and was told it will cost $50.00 just to look at it plus parts and labor... I can buy a new one for $129.00. NOT GOOD SEARS.

      DOA, did not work

right out of the box there was a giant leak inside the plastic housing covering the electric motor. Couldn't build a single PSI of pressure b/c the air just came blasting out the leak. Not good.

Craftsman 3 gal portable air compressor.

I have a part time service business, I service a lot of lawn mowers in the spring . They always have at least one soft tire and they are in the back on the shed ! I needed a compressor I could charge with air and take to the tire needing air, this little compressor fills the bill for me. It has good pressure and recovers very quickly. I have purchased Craftsman products for years and have never been disappointed.

      3 gallon compressor

Owned this compressor for a year and a half. Barely used it other than a household job putting up some trim. Tried to use it this last week and it locked up. What a POS. Done buying craftsman.
