OK - Let's get one thing straight. This hammer isn't a sledge hammer and it isn't a rubber mallet. This tool is a Dead-Blow Hammer. It is designed for driving two pieces of wood together. It is most commonly used to drive pieces together for joinery. The head of the hammer is made up of multiple shot which absorb energy as the head strikes another surface. This provides minimum recoil.
This particular set of Dead-Blow Hammers is among the best I have ever used. I really like the shape and style of the handle grip. It is extremely comfortable and easy to grip. You will love it two, if you use it properly.

No complaints. Handle feels great and it does what it's intended for. Advice.... Always buy on Sears.com as it is ALWAYS cheaper than in store (plus you usually can pick it up in one hour or less).

<span>After killing my hands trying to knock a bearing off a transmission shaft with a ball pein and cheap pry bar. I headed to Sears and decided to use this hammer in conjunction with the 16in pry bar (</span>item #00904283000). I couldn't believe it three blows and BAM it was off. I was initially concerned that the plastic face would not last but I have used it to beat all kinds of metal and it and it has held up with no problems. I'm gonna buy the other two also, these are an absolute must for your toolbox. <span>. </span>

This Craftsman power drive or (dead blow) brings a smile to my face every time i have to use it. It is so effective at everything Ive used it for. The Plastic and rubber coating are durable yet wont damage what ever metal object you are hitting. I use it regularly to remove wheels that have seized onto their hubs. Put one lug nut on and give it a good whack and the wheel breaks free with no damage to anything. This is a great dead blow that had a nice heavy weight that is easy to wield.

My business, Wild Wing Company manufactures, and installs Barn Owl nesting boxes for vineyards, industrial parks, golf courses, and estates for nature methods of pest (Rat, Pocker Gopher, Vole and Mouse) control. To date, we’ve had x3 of these hammers over the past several years. The first lasted us a number of years, then broke, but Sears replaced it for free. Then we lost the second hammer, so we purchased a new one, which is still in use. We like these hammers, when bracing steel poles for pouring concrete, because the hammers will not split the bracing stakes while they are driven home. A great product, which we will continue to employee, and highly recommend. Sincerely John Schuster, Owner, Wild Wing Company

This is probably one of the BEST dead blow hammer's I've ever used. Ever got a stuck wheel on your car. This is the best way to get it off. NON marring, easy to control, and all around the PERFECT weight. Great product.

This hammer is a pretty good buy but will wear out a bit quick b/c of its plastic outer shell. It gets chipped easily but it works decent. I would buy a heavier one for a couple bucks more.
