I expected the Craftsman socket accessories to be made in USA. Very disappointed in Sears

The set is cheaper than paying for each one, and now I have a 1/2 extension for most jobs.

I use this set alot for automotive. Primarilly for the engine area to get at the battery tie downs and places where the standard size extension would never reach. These are heavy duty and well worth the price.

The 1/2in drive Craftsman 3 pc. Extension Bar Set works just as well as you think it would, they are in fact extensions. My only wish is that they had a section of knurling like the more expensive brands, but at 1/3 the cost of the expensive brands one can live without. Overall good valve.

An extension is useful for getting your sockets into tight places for hard-to-reach fasteners, right?  Then why do we have such short extensions in this set?  I worked on aircraft for years and almost never used a socket wrench and socket without an extension.  If you are working on fasteners that are easy to access you still need to provide clearance for the fingers holding your socket wrench.  Giving yourself extra clearance allows you to avoid scraped and bruised knuckles especially with the larger fasteners that require 1/2 inch drive tools.  Or to hold your socket wrench at the most comfortable height.

I spend a great deal of my spare time in the garage. Together with my son, Nathan (age 27) we buy and restore 1980 era Porsches. Nathan is the real mechanic in the family. I pretty much offer moral support and fetch tools.

Most people would tell you that these import cars are a nightmare to work on. We haven't found that to be the case. The mechanical design of these high-performance vehicles is pretty straight-forward. That is a hallmark of the German craftsman and engineers that have developed them. It is true, however that these engineers are extremely efficient with their use of space under the hood. Large engine, small chassis and very light-weight create an environment that is sometime complicated to work in.

We have learned that the best way to deal with this challenge is to own a complete collection socket accessories. Through the use of various extension bars, adapters and universal joints we can replicate the wrench configuration that was originally used to assemble the vehicle. Craftsman calls these tools accessories! I don't think that's right! The term accessary, to me, implies that it is a "nice extra" but not really necessary.

Take it from me, if you are going to perform much mechanical work on a 1983 Porsche 944, a complete set of socket accessories is NOT optional.

I purchased this 3 piece ½” Extension Bar Set along with the 4 piece 3/8” Extension Bar Set during a sale at Sears. I have used both sets extensively over the years and all 7 pieces still look like new even with some abuses from my kids using them as a hammer. The chrome finishes have not been scratched or chipped. When finished whatever task is at hand, I make a quick wipe with a soft cloth and they still look like new some ten years later. A definite thumbs up for Craftsman's desire to provide quality tools at an affordable price.
