Worthy of the "Professional" moniker
Outstanding finish and tooling on these ratchets. The properly designed long and round handle perfectly suits the professional environment for high frequency, extended use and higher torque applications. These are NOT fine tooth design. The traditional 36 tooth design adds more surface area for engagement of the gears dramatically increasing the strength and capability of the ratchet. Fine tooth ratchets have their place in any professional's toolbox and may even work better for the weekend warrior, but a comfortable and traditional high strength ratchet is greatly appreciated by the seasoned. The larger gear teeth and ratcheting action may remind some of their grandpa's ratchets, but this old school design is engineered like this for the strength/durability reasons explained above. In my humble opinion they easily rival the competition at a fraction of the price and with the benefit of the useable quick release function. The one thing (albeit minor) that I would wish for is a metal direction change switch. I've never had a problem with the switch that is installed, it operates easily and smoothly, I guess it just seems out of place on a ratchet so finely finished and tooled. I gladly would pay the extra dollar or two in manufacturing cost to have metal versus the installed professional/ ballistic grade plastic switch.

sloppiest ratchets that i've ever used, they constantly switch when using. What ever happened to the Old Craftsman tools they at least would hold up to some ultamate abouse

Great 3 piece ratchet set!

These are not the fine tooth ratchets that are in their "premium" ratchet sets. These are the 36 tooth design which helps give extra strength and durability to the ratchet. These are great to have and have a great chrome coating on them. The ones I got as of this review are still made in the USA! Overall great ratchet set for the home mechanic. If you want a fine tooth Craftsman ratchet, then go with their "premium" ratchet set. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with these!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great USA-made ratchet set

I held off on buying these for a long time, since the Craftsman ratchets have shifted to overseas manufacturing from China and Taiwan, and I was worried I'd get a set of those. I took the chance due to a sale price and special offers, and was thrilled to receive what is probably one of the final run of USA-made sets. These are essentially just fully polished versions of the regular raised-panel ratchets, so they work about the same and just look nicer, clean up easier, and can be more comfortable in the hand if you prefer a round handle. I'd still prefer it if Craftsman ratchets had the metal direction switching lever rather than the plastic they've used for more than a decade now, but it works. Overall, a great set of ratchets, while the USA-made stock lasts.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent set of ratchets

These tear drop ratchets are great to work with. Something most people don't about with ratchets and tight spaces- can you put a cheater pipe on them! The roundness of of the handle, over the original rectangle style handle, works great with a smaller piece of pipe!! Which comes in handy in tight spots! I have bought several of these ratchets for different Tool boxes, and would definitely recommend these to weekend warriors and professionals

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent Tools!

I bought this set of 3 rachets as an upgrade. They have held up well, and they are much easier to use than the bottom of the line Craftsman rachets, becuase they are rounded and easier to crank on.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good ratchets for the weekend mechanic

Good set of ratchets that will hold up to general mechanical work. I am an automotive technician and I keep these as backup ratchet to my Matco set. They will work for me in a pinch but are not my prefered ratchet for professional work.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Quality ratchets

I purchased these Craftsman ratchets because I knew that I would get great quality.  My only concern is the plastic inside and the switch lever.  I wish they were pot metal like they used to be.  I suppose I'll be able to purchase a rebiuld kit for these at any time.

Once I received them in the mail, I took them apart, wiped down what little oil was inside and greased them up!  Now they pur like a kitten.  I like the tear drop ratchets, but what ever happen to the old RHFT ratchets!  Fun to work with and fun to work on!

Other than the plastic in them, I wish that they were carried in my local store.  Added cost for shipping may deter some.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
