Like another reviewer said, it would be nice to buy individual holders or sets in the same size. None-the-less I needed a few each so I bought three sets and filled each one and still need more! I love the fact that I can keep my sockets from rolling all over the place and keep them in order according to size. That sure does reduce the time I spend looking for a particular socket!
The old ones were metal and while they worked well they did rust on me, not an issue with these.

Although this item is plastic, it looks to be very tough. It's annoying, though, that, contrary to what it says on the package, additional studs are NOT available. There are only 10 studs on the 1/4" and 3/8" racks and 8 on the 1/2" rack. I filled the 1/4" rack with a set of small deep sockets, and fully 1/2 of the rack is empty. This is a waste of space. I "chatted" with a Sears Rep and they couldn't find the studs, either.

I bought a tool set from Sears and knew that I needed socket holders for the hundred+ sockets that were in the box. These are very durable plastic. I bought replacement/additional studs so that I could fit like sockets on the same holder. Worked great.

The sockets slip on and off nicely with the ball and spring in the nylon squares. They do not have any sharp edges because of the rugged plastic construction.

I've been on the look out for a system that holds my sockets securely while still being portable. The old style with the little metal U shape holders had a tendacancy to warp and not grip anymore. These things hold really good and pop out easily when I actually want a socket. Make sure you buy a couple extra of the clips since they don't come with enough to hold a whole set.
