Not a daily driver
The finish on these ratchets is top notch. The action is superb and spins very easily. The heavier handle adds a nice balanced feel, for whatever that's worth. The button release action is silky smooth. They really are eye catching, just machined and tooled beautifully. For me they are the perfect secondary/back-up ratchets for those occasions when I need the fine tooth gears or the slightly thinner head profile. I say secondary/backup because for me the ergonomic short, very flat, heavy and wide handle design was not very ergonomic at all. The short handle makes for less torque and more strength that you must use and the thin rectangular-ish shape grew old fast. I found in daily use that they are fatiguing and hard on my hands, almost painful in higher torque situations. In certain cases these fine tooth gears are nice to be sure, but I find that for extended use in harsh environments that the tried and true, extra strength and durability of the 36 tooth (10 degree) long and round handle designs are much better as my primary. Not trying to imply that somebody shouldn't buy these ratchets. Look in any professional mechanics box and you'll find a variety of ratchets and drivers for a myriad of situations. Just saying that for me they found a specific place in my box, though it wasn't as my daily driver. Also check out the Craftsman pro line # 44813, 44814, etc. for a stronger, ergonomic, longer handled, daily/professional use alternative, (Dubbed " The best performing ratchet we've ever offered!") .

The worst shopping experience ever

I didn't receive a Made in USA set but I found one in a local store. However, the store refused to let me exchange it even I called sears.com twice. I spent 2 hours in my local sears trying to communicate with a very rude associate and his manager. When I said I would like to exchange it, the associate replied "How are we going to sell this?" Noted that the package of the 3 pc thin profile ratchet set I purchased online was just a plain white paper box which is different from the retail package in stores. Eventually craftsman is going to be crapsman. Sears used to be a good place to shop, but not anymore.

GREAT PRODUCT

They may cost a little more than a standard Craftsman Ratchet, but it's well worth it!! These ratchets fit in your hand so much better than the standard ones!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Gives the Tool Truck Brands a Run for Their Money

I've had these ratchets since 2003 and they are excellent!! After 9 years of good use, I've had no reliability issues. With a 60 tooth design & thin head, these babies fit anywhere. Polished Chrome, intelligently designed, comfortable handle, well balanced design, quick release easy socket removal- It's safe to say these are Craftsman's best ratchets they've released. However, a very unfortunate dilemma has occurred within the last 6 months. THESE RATCHETS ARE NO LONGER FORGED AND MACHINED IN THE USA! Now they are made in Taiwan. Sears, what happened? What's with the outsourcing? Is someone trying to kill the Craftsman name??? This is why I give only a three star rating on a product that would have gotten 5 stars. Hopefully, some entity will bring these back to production in the USA, as they were a great ratchet. I can't speak for the Taiwan version, because I will no longer purchase Taiwan or Chinese Craftsman branded ratchets.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The HIPED up ratchet set from craftsman

I am a professional mechanic. I bought these ratchets 2 years ago. A big mistake. The 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets will slip and the gears are not holding. They will change directions. Do not buy these. Sears is getting mine back.

3pc. Thin Profile Ratchet Set 60 Tooth

The Craftsman Club had this set 50% off. I was a little hesitant in buying them because I know all the tools are being made in China (Thanks Danaher). Before the sale, I want to my local sears to make sure their sets were still made in USA, and they were. I love this set, they are well constructed and will last a lifetime. I will only buy Craftsman USA made tools! Once all their tools are Chinese, I won't even step foot in that section of sears.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

If you can find the US versions of these, they are really nice!

I have 2 sets of these, both made in the US. One set is the 80th anniversary versions that came in a special 80th anniversary tool set - those are packed away because they may be valuable someday. I have a "working" set that I use all the time and they are really nice - beautiful, comfortable handles and really smooth action. It's really a shame that they are now made in China. One of the Sears stores near me still has a US made set - snag 'em if you can folks, because once they are gone you'll have to move up to the 84 teeth models to get a US made ratchet from Craftsman.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice Set

I received this two weeks ago and they are made in the USA.   I don't what the two reviewers are complaining about.  They are NOT from China.

Ok enough of that.  The low profile ratchets are very nice.  The have very well made.  They click with good precision.  Little free play.  The direction lever could have more resistence.  It does tend to switch too easily.  The 1/4" ratchet is very light, maybe too light.  Good overall balance.  The only real complaint on these ratchets is that they are not sealed.  There is a large opening on the socket side that can accumulate crud over time and possible seize the ratchet.  Almost all of the craftsman ratchets are non-sealed.  Otherwise, I got this on sale and it's a great buy for me.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

No longer made in the USA

I received these today in the mail from Sears.com. They are no longer stamped USA. In addition, the heads had various scratches on them out of the box, which really shows against polished metal. These are going back to the store. Isn't the whole point of buying CRAFTSMAN and paying more money is to get a quality product made in the USA?
