Not the best I've ever owned but with the lifetime warranty this set was a great buy. They do have a nice shape to the handel and the handel is not too big (wide which makes it easy to get in to tight spots or shave out a narrow and shallow strip. I've used other brands that when doing a lock set for instance you feel like you are digging in deeper rather than shaving a layer off. The only thing about these that looks a little cheep is the strike cap. On the 1/2 inch chisel it doesn't seem to meet the handle evenly around but it may flatten with a few solid hits with my hammer and if not the warranty will cover that.

This is a heavy duty wood chisel set that is well worth the price! It has the craftsman lifetime warranty so they are good forever. They feel good in your hand and are very comfortable to work with. The three different sizes are convenient to have depending what you are working on and caps are included with the chisels so you don't have to worry about getting scraped or stabbed on the sharp edges. I would definately recommend these chisels to anyone and will probably buy more myself. My Kmart only carried the three piece set but I am sure Sears carries the five piece set. The chisels come nicely oiled and ready to use! A must have for anyone who wants quality products!

I do light woodworking usually softwoods and they have held up quite well. I dropped one on the floor that dinged the corner a bit but I hit it with a stone to make it flat again.

When the chisel edges are ground, the edges round down causing burrs, and when used as a scraper it causes gouges in the wood. If you run your finger under the bottom of the chisel at the cutting edge you can feel the burr. I purchased a Stanley set and found the edges to be smooth and performed well as a scraper when I used them to remove excess glue at wood glue joints.

I purchased the Wood Chisel set for my so to use to put door locks in his house. I wasn't sure which size to get, so the packet with the various sized assured me of getting the one he needed. When I got to his house we used the medium size chisel and in no time at all we had finished with the door locks. Great product and I like the fact that they are Craftsman so if I happen to break one it is guaranteed for replacement.
