I purchased this 3 shelf stroage module to be used with the door kit so I could secure some of my tools with my workbench. I needed the extra room these shelves afforded me versus buying a drawer module. I have plenty of rrom to store a Paslode nailer, Craftman Professional sabre saw inthe cases on one shelf. I have other tools and maglites also all locked up so they don't disappear. If you have some bulkier items that dont readily fit in the standard tool storage rollaways or module craftman has and you want to secure them, I would recommend this product. I have bought 2 of these, a red and black one, and I have not had the issue that the other reviewer did with the paint. He probably should have brought that one back, it does sound defective.

First thing I read all the bad reviews prior to this purchase and was a little hesitant but when it went on sale I figured I could deal with it for the price. I bought the Door Kit (Model #14953) as well which was also on sale. The door kit is a must if you are going to buy this shelving unit. It provides a much needed back wall and front lockable door. Without it I would not have wanted to install this shelving. My 6' bench and stainless top had been previously assembled prior to adding this shelving module. Nothing had to be removed or totally dissasembled. I either had to loosen or remove some bolts and put the new parts in and bolt it back up. The reviewers complaining about the poor instructions... I know everyone's skill levels are different but there are only like 5 or 6 pieces to assemble!? It is pretty easy to figure out and get together. Make sure you install the door kit at the same time as the shelving unit. Took me about an hour and 1/2 to get it all together and adjusted. Shelving can be moved up and down so you can make it work for what you want to store on the shelves. The shelves themselves are rigid and are plenty solid enough to hold what I want them to. Paint was fine. Had some damaged/bent parts. I fixed them the best I could and everything looks fine. Boxes were undamaged so not sure how that happened? Overall happy how this worked out and looks. The door kit should be included with the shelving module to make it a solid product in my opinion. My next step will be adding the 5-drawer module (Model #10133) once it goes on sale.

I purchased this shelf unit for installation on 8 ft bench. While the shipping box appeared intact, the lower ends of both "legs" were dented/distorted enough to render them unusable. I re-ordered the unit and the replacement unit had similar damage. For the price, I was disapointed with the quality of this unit, as well as the quality of the 8 ft bench. Manufacturer apparently expected this to be an issue, since "reinforcement" beams are included with the bench. Unfortunately, the beams cannot be used when adding the optional shelf or drawer units.

The side panel is the same as the sides of the workbench frame. I have no problems with the quality or finish of that part. The shelves are another story. Mine were poorly painted (orange peel, too thin on some areas, missing completely in a few spots) and already chipped when I opened the box. The packaging looks good so I do not suspect anything happened during transit. It looks like a poorly done paint job. And- the shelves are flimsy thin metal. Be careful while installing the shelves. It is very easy to scratch the side panel and really easy to scratch the shelves. I'll add some drawer liners to the shelves to cover the poor paint and muffle the cheap sound it makes when putting something on them. One more thing to note. When the bottom shelf is installed you will lose the space underneath it. Maybe not a big deal, but if every bit of storage matters it's worth considering.
